" Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang " is the original name of the recipe,

given by its original inventor,

this complete name is used to prevent misunderstandings.

Even if it is prepared as powder, honey pill, water pill.

Mai men dong Yinzi(potion)

is quite different (from the herbals used) from

Mai men dong Tang(decoction)

Chaihu Shu Gan Tang(decoction)

is different from

Chaihu Shu Gan San (powder)

Zhu Ling Tang

Zhu Ling Wan

Huang Qi Yinzi

Huang Qi tang

etc etc

The composition of each recipe in itself is different,

a different name ending has been chosen to state the difference.

What makes things complicated is that recipes

with *same* names sometimes have different constituents,

issued by different doctors from different centuries.

--------------------

wan is 'rising tone'.
