Guest guest
ok, i am a first year TCM student, working as a health care worker in a residential facility for people with disabilities. last night one of my clients with cerebral palsy became extremely nauseous. this is what she told me: this has happened about 4 times previously, over the past year. twice, she went to the emergency room, because she was in significant pain. they scanned her and all that, and what they found was that her stomach and intestines were filled with gas! they have no idea what causes it, but she was quite ill all night. she cant keep anything down and is in extreme discomfort. she is 28, is non-ambulatory, has a catheterized naval (she can urinate the normal way, but you can also insert a tube through her naval for her to urinate) and is otherwise in generally good health. she also had diarrhea last night. two nights ago, she ate re-heated 'hamburger helper' and after that is when she became ill. this food was still in her stomach until last night, when she vomited. she hadnt eaten anything in between. there is also an emotional component, which may or may not be involved. one year ago on new years day, jen lost all her friends when a new company took over the facility in which she resides. i gave her the number of the clinic at the school i attend, so she can see about getting acupuncture and/or some herbs. it just seemed to me that an alternative approach was called for in this case, since conventional medicine seemed unable to address the situation. thanks, mercurius trismegistus

Why am I not surprised allopaths don't know what causes gas!...ROFL > she also had > diarrhea last night. two nights ago, she ate re-heated 'hamburger > helper' and after that is when she became ill. this food was still > in her stomach until last night, when she vomited. And it was only partially digested?... Rotting food ferments. Fermentation in the intestinal tract, not good. Bad bacteria run amok. She needs a drastic diet change, no sugar! Address liver and kidneys. (note, I do not practice TCM because of ignorance...lol However that doesn't mean I don't know anything... Guest guest
The types of digestive problems described are the result of very low Stomach Qi. A professional is needed to rebuild the stomach functions - without that then she should carry bottles of Po Chai Pills (Curing Pills)and take two bottles as soon as beginning gas cramps. If this is an on going problem these pills can be taken after every meal. Please rule out heart weakness as insuffecient heart Qi can also cause these types of digestive problems - this would not be unusual in a Cerebral palsy patient. Also she needs to correct her dietary habits. I read somewhere that Po chai is one of the most frequently taken medicines in the world. Guest guest
thanks! i guess she went back into the emergency room yesterday. they examined her and told her that the scar tissue from her totally messed up catheter surgery periodically strangles the intestines, significantly blocking peristaltic activity. - " Vinod Kumar " <vinod3x3 <Chinese Traditional Medicine > Saturday, January 07, 2006 2:04 AM [Chinese Traditional Medicine] Re: CLIENT WITH CEREBRAL PALSY > The types of digestive problems described are the result of very low > Stomach Qi.
