Guest guest
Dear Victoria Dragon & All, Many, many thanks for sharing your thoughts and feelings concerning suicide and Prozac. It never occurred to me that this medication " can blot out all other considerations - like consideration of effects on loved ones. " (This is such an interesting point!) I'm hoping to find the opportunity to also share it with my parents and siblings. At times, I've felt that it was not a " real " suicide because he was on this medication for about 22 years. He seemed more and more detached with each passing year until he severed his existence on earth. I never understood the treatment - I now know that it was not helping him - sigh. By the way, depression and/or the " blues " is common in my family - it appears to be from my mother's side - some of us struggle with it and some of us don't. I guess it is hereditary. Thanks again..... Sincerely, Danamarie ***** " Personally, I don't think a person killing himself or herself while on Prozac (or some of the other dangerous substances) is really a suicide. The drug can be that overpowering. It can blot out all other considerations - like consideration of effects on loved ones. Depression can do that too, but under the influence of a drug like Prosac, this can be heightened. " ~Victoria Dragon
