Cupping -- What it is, how to make its effects permanent

I've been seeing an acupuncturist for damp heat with spleen

deficiency. My main symptoms are a white-yellow tongue coating and a

foggy head that never clears.

She " sticks " me, then cups my back (12-14 points), which instantly

clears my head. I drink herbs daily until the next appointment.

Without them, my head fogs over. I don't eat/drink dairy, coffee, or

sugar, but my head gradually fogs over without the herbs and don't

know why my body isn't clearing itself. Why is that?

I've been seeing her for 3 months (1x to 2x/wk), and she gave me a

discount on the visits, but the insurance doesn't cover acupuncture,

and I want to be cured.

I'm not sure what cupping does, and don't know what else to do.

She's a nice lady, and I appreciate the discount very much. She is,

however, 90 mins away, and her visits aren't covered by insurance.

I just want my head to clear and it never does. Any suggestions or

explanations or suggestions as to what to do? Many thanks.

I've heard people factor the length of time a person has had a

condition into how long it might take a person to get over it.

I've heard some people suggest aprox. one month recuperation for each

year of illness.

Also, the energetic balance to produce a pathology can be in place

long before it manifests into the physical.

In the mean time, its good to hear you are getting some positive

results from therapy.

This is not TCM, but I got relief from brainfog from high dosages of

vitamin A. I took the high dosages because of constant pharyngitis

(a soreness and inflammation in the upper throat behind the nose).

I also had a lot of swollen lymph nodes. To my great surprise, the

brainfog also cleared up. I've observed this many times over the

years.

Because the same symptom can be due to very different things, it's

important that I give you some more information because the vitamin

A may not work in your case if the cause is different from mine. In

addition to the pharyngitis and swollen lymph nodes, I had CFIDS

(Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome)and an active case of

chronic mono at the time. At the time I didn't know about TCM and

wasn't under any kind of TCM treatment.

I had to stay on 48,000 IUs of vitamin A daily for a time. Every

time I dropped below that dose, the pharyngitis, swollen lymph

nodes, and brain fog reappeared. Eventually I was able to go down to

36,000, then 32,000, and finally 18,000 IU per day. I had to stay

at 18,000 for a long time. Finally I got down to 12,000, then to

6,000 IU, and today I don't take A regularly.

Too much vitamin A can be toxic. It's a fat-soluable vitamin;

therefore, it can build up in the body. So if you consider this,

you need to research vitamin A and talk it over with your MD or DO.

You may also want to Google for " vitamin A clear head " to see if

there have been any studies on this. In my case I was taking the A

because of infection, the lifting of the brainfog was an extra

benefit for me, and I never looked to see if others had experienced

this.

One point that needs to be brought out is that my response to TCM

was a lot quicker and better than one would expect considering how

sick I had been and how long I had been sick (over 2 decades by the

time I saw a TCM herbalist). Had the earlier and current treatment

with vitamins and minerals resulted in the TCM working faster and

more dramatically than it otherwise would have? This is something

to be considered.

I wish I knew the TCM properties of vitamin A.

Even if vitamin A (or something else) clears your head, you may still need to

see your acupuncturist in order to finish clearing up any TCM imbalances you

have. Otherwise, the A or something else may treat the symptom of brainfog but

not treat the underlying TCM imbalance that manifested as brainfog. If the

underlying TCM Root isn't completely treated, it eventually will manifest in

other ways.
