Guest guest
I'm wondering if I could please get any opinions on Reishi spores. Yesterday, my TCM practitioner suggested that I take them, but at $36 for a 10 day supply (taking 3 a day), I'd like some second opinions. I've read the web sites and they seem like miracle cures for everything from cancer to a shen imbalance, both of which I've had. I've been in TCM treatment for 15 months, and my diagnosis is spleen and kidney qi deficiency with phlegm. I currently take a powdered herb formula three times a day, with 21 herbs. This was the first visit to a new doctor, and while she seemed concerned about strengthening my immune system, I'm primarily concerned about my emotional issues with depression, and the shen disturbance. I know they all interrelate, but I can't afford too much more on top of what I'm paying now for acupuncture and herbs. I'm not sure of the potency (I know it can vary), or the brand of the Reishi spores she suggested, but if any of you think they are truly valuable, would you mind writing in a bit about them, and also if you have any ideas where I might order them at a lower price. Thanks as always! Linda

Does the whole mushroom (Ganderma lucidum) have the same benefits as just the spores? or are the virtues you mention specific to just the reishi's spores? Penel whose visual imagination of the collection of mushroom spores is much more boring than her visual imagination of the collection of flying squirrel dung, but that's another story ;-)
