Could someone explain to me the relevance of sulphur free declarations on

Some people have a bad and even life-threatening reaction to sulfur.

They can't take antibiotics containing sulfur. They also have to be

careful about what they eat.

One way to preserve apples is to dry them with sulfur. The sulfur

keeps the apples from turning brown and rottening. I had an older,

distant cousin with this problem. She lived in a rural mountain area

where this technique gets used a lot to preserve apple slices. She

couldn't eat any of the apples preserved this way or preserve apples

this way.

An allergy to sufla, which is a by product of sulfur, can manifest

itself in many was one wouldn't normally think of as an allergy.

Sulfa is used as a cheap antibiotic.

Many farm animals are raised on sulfa drugs to deal with

digestive problems from being fed grains they wouldn't normally

eat but are fed to fatten them and improve their flavor.

I'm allergic to sulfa. I don't seem to have a problem with sulfur

that hasn't been changed into sulfa. I was put on sulfasalazine

about 14 years ago because its was the cheapest pharmaceutical

available for imflammatory bowel disease.

What it did to me was surpress production of all white blood cells.

I knew something was wrong as soon as I started taking the drug

butthe drs. kept telling me I needed to give it time to be effective.

Yeah, opportunist infections took over. I spent 10 days in isolation

at the hospital getting fed other antibiotics by IV.

I came out of the experience with the ability to view all medical

practicioners, Western and Eastern, as consultants.
