Guest guest
I am wondering if the Chinese doctors who provoke an emotion as an antidote to imbalance(?) are aware that some stuff is so bad that the cure has to go way beyond manipulation of emotions. I posted here a couple weeks ago on a woman of my acquaintance: well, what happened to her decades ago would curl your toes, and she seems to be letting things out bit by bit, getting mad. She needs kindness, not manipulation. This kind of manipulation reminds me of psychiatrists who take angry older children (not babies who just need to let it all out in some inchoate way) and hold them down till they scream & holler themselves silly. As if these kids haven't suffered enough, now they are " cured " bysome form of humiliation? This is a sore spot for me; I hate to see people humiliated (even if I don't like them) because of my own past experiences.
Guest guest
Dear Mrs. Barley: I don't think Chinese medicine works that dramatically, except perhaps in extreme cases of schizophrenia where one witnesses dramatic behaviour. Acupuncture and herbs work a gradual effect, progress is generally slow and steady. At the same time, emotions, thoughts and feelings from the past arise at the same pace, so the individual isn't overwhelmed with some emotional storm. Past issues can be dealt with one by one as they arise. At least that is my personal experience and what I've learned from reading cases. Not sure that much of the dramatic episodes of western psychiatry are necessary. Quiet counseling with herbs and acupuncture goes a long way.
