Guest guest
Tks muchly for your informative post. l. Does this woman truly want to get well? 2. Is she maybe " just " mad at her parents and to punish them is going to show them how sick she is? (I.E., it's their fault she's feeling lousy.) I was never extremely ill, but during the time when I let 3 family members ride all over me, I had the least energy and felt bad physically. After I spoke my piece to them, it was like one big stone had been removed from the road in front of me. (There are still some smaller stones!) When I gave the example of Mg and Si, I was just pulling nutrients out of a hat to make my point that minerals are beginning to be recognized by regular doctors. I don't have a clue as to whether or not these 2 minerals would be helpful for constellation of symptoms. Sorry. Also, I get the feeling that this woman needs more contact with wild nature. You know, primeval forest, seeing wild animals where they live, gathering sticks and making a fire, etc.

The TCM understanding of the mind-body (-emotions-spirit) connection is a lot more sophisticated than that in the West. I break it down into components because most of the readers on here are Westerners who think in those terms. In order to convey the differences, I first break it down into separate components. But the Chinese don't. They take it for granted that Organ imbalances are going to have different types of manifestations. It's the holistic whole for them. In the West we hear a lot about how emotions can make one sick. Lip service is given to the concept that certain illnesses and medical conditions will have psycholocial as well as physical symptoms. But this wasn't always the case in the West. Doctors and nurses used to be trained to use emotions as a diagnostic guide. For example, patients who come across as angry frequently are in pain. Patients who are anxious - more anxious than is usual when consulting a doctor - may be suffering from asthma or some other breathing disorder. The asthma is so slight that they may not consciously realize they are having trouble breathing, but subconsciously they do. There's nothing quite like having trouble breathing - even slight problems - to cause a person to feel anxious. Each of the Organs is particularly vulnerable to one or more emotions. For example, the Kidneys to fear and fright. The Spleen to pensiveness and obsessing. The Liver to anger and frustration. The Lungs to grief (and to letting go issues). The Heart to joy (mania). Here's where TCM gets really sophisticated. It recognizes that once imbalance occurs and is allowed to continue, the person is going to be more prone to feeling that particular emotion. It doesn't matter what the initial cause of the imbalance was - physical truma, emotional, infectious, some toxin, dietary excess, etc. Once imbalance occurs and continues, the person is going to be more prone to feel the emotion(s) associated with the Organ which is in imbalance. This can lead to a snowballing situation. Take for example the Liver and anger. Once there is Liver imbalance, the person is more inclined to feel anger. The anger can put the Liver into more imbalance which results in the person being even more prone to feel anger. It can be a snowballing situation. Why are people in pain so frequently angry? Because one of the possible causes of pain is Qi Stagnation. The Liver has a great deal to do with the smooth flow of Qi throughout the body. When Qi is blocked, there is pain. Anger and frustration aren't the only things that can cause Qi to Stagnate. Blood Stasis can lead to it. So can Cold. BTW, one of the medical conditions in which healers do tend to see Liver Qi Stagnation a lot is CFIDS (Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome). The Liver is vulnerable to both anger and frustration. CFIDS can be one of the most frustrating medical conditions there is when it follows the up and down, better some days but worse on others pattern. The PWCs (People With CFIDS)who have the feeling the same amount of lousy all the time often find that easier to accept than the ones who have the up and down pattern. The up and down pattern does tend to introduce a lot of opportunies to feel frustration. > I was never extremely ill, but during the time > when I let 3 family members ride all over me, I had the least energy > and felt bad physically. One antidote to Lung issues (grief, issues involving letting go, some cases of depression, etc.) is to get angry. Doctors in China sometimes will provoke an emotion in a patient as an antidote to imbalance. > When I gave the example of Mg and Si, I was just pulling nutrients > out > of a hat to make my point that minerals are beginning to be > recognized > by regular doctors. One of the minerals you pulled out of thin air just happens to be one which has helped a lot of PWCs. Magnesium. It was like a miracle drug to me. I had to have the injections for a few years because I was so sick I couldn't absorb enough in pill form. Not even with malic acid which increases Mg absorption. Now I've improved to the point where I can take the pills. > Sorry. However, her recent back surgery precludes her getting out for a while.
