Guest guest
It is also interesting to me that you mention someone to work on my elbows. I have had a funny constricted feeling in my elbows since my late teens. and I would have my sisters or friends twist my arm to achieve a feeling of release. I never mentioned the reason to anyone before but what is the signifgance of this and . how does one work on elbows? rabiah

Massage the arm below the elbow and see if you get the same feeling of release and relief. As to the significance... do you work at a job requiring the use of your arms or hand all the time? It could be just overuse and repetitive strain on them. sue

Press just above and below the elbow to see if you find any tender points. If so, rub them for a minute or so. Do this daily and see if there's any improvement. It could be arthritis as you say, but that can be helped by working the points. Another point to use is the one in the web between your thumb and index finger. sue

Note: Large Intestine 4 - the point in the web between thumb and index finger - is contraindicated in pregnant women because it can bring on premature labor. Guest guest
Thanks sue I think i used up hegu trying to work out my intestines. I did acupressure in the fossa (space between the bones) of the joint and that helped a lot. BTW i also did lung 1 & 2 and the release I got from that was phenonenal!!! I opened up so much I had stop , Dr holes was right it was very gentle pressure, and I was so lightheaded afterwards, I could feel my lungs open on both side s as well. I find it fantastic that it works so rapidly Rabaiah

Not exactly. I asked my acupuncturist about the Forbidden Preganancy Points and he said using them won't bring on labor unless the woman is actually ready to start. But.... it can make her very uncomfortable as that will activate Braxton-Hicks contractions which many women have in the last month or so of pregnancy. As I was replying to Rabaiah, I didn't think he was pregnant, but it's a good point to bring up. Any pregnant woman should avoid using these points, though they're very good to use once labor begins. sue

Not sure you can `use up' a point... though overusing it might throw you out of balance another way. I did > acupressure in the fossa (space between the bones) of the joint and that helped > a lot. Since everyone who's a member of CH can read the posts and since there's always people new to TCM coming in, it's a good idea to mention contraindications, especially when something isn't recommended during pregnancy (until labor begins). Most of us already know about a lot of the contraindications, but I worry about someone new to TCM trying something that may not be good for that particular individual. For women who are pregnant or who may become pregnant: It's a good idea to ask about and/or research anything you may be considering trying. Just to be on the safe side. Acupoints and herbs can be very potent, and some of them are contraindicated during pregnancy. Thanks for the additional info on Large Intestine 4. This point has so many different uses. It's one of the points that gets recommended a lot in acupressure for a number of symptoms and imbalances.
