Guest guest
Sam, I take a calcium/magnesium mix. For some reason taking magnesium alone makes me feel not right. Once thing to look at is the foods we buy that are packaged and manufactured by food companies. They are in a habit of dumping lots of calcium in our foods. This could result that our body is getting too much calcium and not enough required amount of magnesium our body needs. It needs a balance. It makes me mad they do this because I wonder if this also is a cause of my increase need for magnesium? Just something to think about. Calcium and magnesium helps my head think a little clearer and gives me energy and my mood feels better. I usually take my supplements first thing in the morning and then have breakfast. I began having problems feeling good on the cal/mag tablets I was taking. I am not sure what the change was about. I found one that is plant based so it is easier to absorb. I found eating beans in my diet frequently helps my mineral and fiber needs. This new supplement I now take in the morning and in the evening also. I have some kind of chronic fatigue problem and noticed that my ability to detox is poor. Doing more reading on detoxing I found magnesium to be very important to support some of our sulfur amino acid functions at night. Mag is equally important for daytime energy too. Magnesium seems to need calcium to work as well as vitamin D, so I take an A & D supplement also in the form of a gel capsule. I read something about the need for oil to help in mineral transport too. Something interesting with me that I noticed all my life. When I take only calcium tablets, I must absorb it very well because my fingernails turn so white it almost looks like they could floress in the dark. So for me I have stayed away from just taking calcium alone. I have read post with other people that take additional calcium and it solves all their complaints. Same with magnesium for some people. For me I need them both. Maybe you fit into one of these categories. My doctor told me to take mineral supplments at night because the liver uses minerals more in the evening phase. I know we need some during the day so a daily vitamine should be adequeate unless you find out what your deficency is. For me I seem to have a greater need for a day and night supply because of the dextox problem I am having. I would continue with your acupuncture so that all your weak meridians are strong and try to zero in to see if you have some other deficencys. Do you suppose you are having problems with detoxing also? My symptoms got so bad until one day I noticed a connection with getting sick 20 minutes after taking a shower. All this time I thought it was food sensitivites making me ill. This is probably why my liver meridian was shot too. I have a vitamin and mineral reference book. It has been very helpful for me to find some of my health clues in there. They don't cost too much. Then I do a search on the internet to find more specific information. I used both sources to find information about manganese. It paid off for me. Guest guest
Sam: You asked about the best time to take supplements, here is a " clock " that describes the route and schedule of Qi passing through the body. So, Liz taking supplements for her liver before bed makes sense, as Qi passes through there between 1 and 3 a.m. Regards, Jack " In the morning, you get up and take a deep cleansing breath (Lung) 3-5a then you go to the bathroom (Large Intestine) 5-7a you eat (Stomach)--(remember order because there are always 2 yang together, then 2 yin) 7-9a then digest (spleen) 9-11a you go have lunch with your friends (heart) (fire elements are about relationships) 11-1p (lunchtime) then digest (small intestine) (remember because it's paired with heart) 1-3p you finally empty your (bladder) (2 yang together) 3-5p and kidney (it's mate) 5-7p time for dinner (relationships & fire) (we need another yin) pericardum 7-9p and enjoy their company (fire) (yang) San jiao 9-11p time to go home, maybe stop at the bar 11-1a (Gall Bladder) if you stay too long (closing time 2am) you hurt your (Liver) 1-3a Mail - Easier than ever with enhanced search. Guest guest
<snip> > here is a " clock " that describes the route and > schedule of Qi passing through the body. It is a route. Its schedule is not of the time the qi passes through the particular Organ but of when the qualities of that particular Organ possibly has more influence. All the Meridians are connected. It takes Qi approximately 20 minutes to flow through the whole cycle pending no stagnations. Penel
Guest guest
Jack, that was a very interesting post, I saved it. I did read that meridians have a peak function. I also ran into a saliva test that is bases on the meridian and the time. It is supposed to be an better way to test for hormone imbalance. Have you ever heard of it? Called NuFem, saliva test that is based on TCM body clock. I ordered it to see what it might show me. Might not show me anything. But what particularly interested me is that for women the test is to be taken on the second day of menstrual bleeding. For me that day is my worst day in my life. So the test might tell me something that other tests haven't, because they were taken at other times of the month. That day I feel awful. When I had my liver and spleen meridian worked on with acupuncture, after a few visits, I felt the energy kick into my body about 2 in the morning. So I do believe in this time pattern. If anyone had any experience with this test I would be interested in hearing your results, good or bad. Liz D.

Guest guest
Liz: The horary clock or " zi wu liu zhu " system can enhance the effect of acupuncture or massage. Mary Burmeister uses a similar system in her Jin Shin Jyutsu http://www.jinshinjyutsu.com/MB-Foundation/Foundation.htm Mary describes the flow at different hours in the day in " The Touch of Healing. " I haven't heard of the saliva test, but it sounds plausible. Qi and blood go together, which may explain your menstrual experience. Saliva is just one of the different body fluids so it undoubtedly is also influenced by the horary clock.
