Official name for a common morinda formula?

I find this formula often in books as a basic Morinda (ba ju tian), but I've

never seen a

proper chinese name for it. It's used for strengthening bones & joints,

willpower, &

impotence. James Ramholz, in his book on Shaolin formulas (I forget the exact

name) calls

it, and morinda itself, Tantien Storm.

The formula:

Morinda Root (Ba ji tian)

Cornus (Shan zhu yu)

Dioscorea (Shan yao)

Lycium berries (Kou chi tzu)

Psoralia seeds (Bu gu Zhi)

Thanks!

Jeff

PS: I tried to post the chinese characters in my last posting, but they didn't

seem to come

out on the list. It's really helpful to have the characters when you're trying

to buy this stuff!

Googling by ingredients in a formula presents some special

challenges. If one Googles for " contains all the words " , it's going

to throw up every single webpage in existence that contains those

particular herbs.

So I tried Googling for the exact phase " morinda formula " and " also

contains one or more of the words " " dioscorea " .

Eventually I got to Ba Ji Yin Yang Formula:

Morinda officinalis root, Rehmannia glutinosa root-prep, Epimedium

grandiflorum herb, Dioscorea opposita rhizome, Paeonia lactiflora

root, Cibotium barometz rhizome, Dipsacus asper root, Nelumbo

nucifera seed, Cornus officinalis fruit, Rosa laevigata fruit,

Lycium chinense fruit, Eucommia ulmoides bark, Angelica sinensis

root. - Ba ji tian, Shu di huang, Yin yang huo, Shan yao, Bai shao,

Gou ji, Xu duan, Lian zi, Shan zhu yu, Jin ying zi, Gou qi zi, Du

zhong, Dang gui.

That's not the formula you're looking for. It contains a number of

things your formula does not, and it does not contain " psoralia " .

I tried exact phase " morinda formula " and " also

contains " " psoralia " , and got nothing. I figured since psoralia is

not as often used as the other herbs in the formula that this would

really close in on it.

Hopefully, someone else can figure out something to Google for that

might find it. Or, one of the list members will recognize the

formula.

I need to find out if is set up to allow a message group to

use two languages instead of one. If I can set the group up to use

Chinese as well as English as its language, that should allow the

use of Chinese characters. Does anyone know if this is possible?

Wow! that's quite some formula. a serious kidney-blaster! Thanks so much for

going to

the trouble. The Morinda formula that I'm chasing may one of those " building

block " types

of formulas, since it seems to appear, namelessly, in several different places.

Oddly enough, I was in a chinatown herb shop last week looking for this item.

the

proprietor had the hardest time finding it--she finally found it, and showed it

to me to be

sure it was the right thing, but I guess it isn't something that people ask for.

I've read that this ingredient may be slightly kidney-toxic with regular use,

maybe just as

well to go easy on it.

A little experimentation may be involved. Directly below this message window is

a pull-

down that lets you specify a language. I wonder what happens if...

Cheers,

Jeff
