(There is some disagreement among sources for the thermal energy). Targets: Heart and Kidneys. Blood Tonic and Yin Tonic. According to Warner J.W. Fan, MD, A Manual of Chinese herbal Medicine, p. 199: " Act: to nourish Yin and moisten Dryness, to generate blood and calm Wind. " According to Dan Bensky and Andrew Gamble, Chinese Herbal Medicine Materia Medica, Revised Edition, p. 364m Ranykys Sabghusgebg (aja mulberry mistletoe stems) are mixed " With chicken eggs and brown sugar for dry and scaly skin due to blood deficiency. " Black sesame seeds (aka Semen Sesami Indici) are mixed " With chicken egg for constipation due to blood deficiency. " (p. 367) Note to beginning TCM students: Blood Deficiency is one of the things which can generate Interior Wind. One way to treat Interior Wind is to treat Blood Deficiency. There are a number of Blood tonic herbs. Chicken egg yolks are a Blood tonic which is particularly good for calming Wind. (Note to readers new to TCM. Interior Wind does not refer to gas. " Wind " in TCM refers to the effects of the wind, changes in barometric pressure, and changes in ion concentrations on the body. For example, wind attacking the Exterior of the body (muscles, bones, meridians, etc.) can trigger arthritis in susceptible individuals. Sometimes changes in the body can generate (the effects of) Wind in the Interior (Organs). One of the most serious potential manifestations of Interior Wind is stroke.)
