Guest guest
Hello, I have a patient that I have been treating with fibromyalgia. In her case, the dis-ease is rooted in a blood deficiency. She suffered from a lot of pain, and also insomnia, was taking many meds which were not helping very much. In the first month of treatment, she found great relief (4 treatments), and in another few treatments and she was off of all her meds, and not in any more pain. She could move around, and take part in life again. She was dedicated, and is still coming for treatments- tune ups every 2 weeks or so just to keep things in check and to continue with the blood building. I just wanted to share this with you. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to email me. Thank You Lauren Fortuna, M.S., L. Ac LFortunaLAC

Guest guest
Lauren: Would you mind describing your patient's condition a little further? FM seems quite complex and appears to have a variety of patterns. How did you help her? Thank you, Jack Chinese Traditional Medicine , Lauren Fortuna <llbeandip@n...> wrote: > > Hello, > I have a patient that I have been treating with fibromyalgia. Guest guest
Could you please post your protocal for this case? Also could you please tell the time line in the case - how long it took to get effect etc. From your posting I got the impression that the patient got improvement in a short time. If that was the case then I would be suspecious of the diagnosis. Fibromyalgia is an extremely complicated case and will take quite sometime rebuliding the yin - in FM there is always a multitude of hormonal imbalances that will take long and commited treatment. Not all muscle pain is fibromyalgia. If any here have had a differant experience with any FM case please report your case here. Guest guest
In my case I got very dramatic improvement in 3 weeks after I started on the TCM herbs, and I had been sick with CFIDS and FMS for over 20 years before I got TCM treatment. I went into it hoping for some improvement in energy levels. After 3 weeks I was able to start a consistent and regular exercise program. I knew better than to try aerobics, and did mainly things like sit-ups, some yoga, etc. It's not that I couldn't exercise before. I couldn't do it consistently. It might be weeks between having enough energy to try just some light exercising. Depending on how much I overdid - like going to the doctor or the rare shopping trip - it might take days to recover from something that light. I knew exercising was out of the question. One day after about 3 weeks of being on the herbs, I literally woke up and knew I had the energy to start a regular exercise program. And I did. That was more than I had expected from TCM. As a result I began to learn everything I could about TCM. In time I started this list so others could learn about TCM. It evolved into a place where those new to TCM could learn the basics, where TCM students can sharpen their skills, and where health care professionals can discuss TCM. My main problem was Kidney Yang Deficiency. Needless to say, I had quite a lot of other things wrong too - like Blood Deficiency, Yin Deficiency, Qi Stagnation, Phlegm, Dampness AND Dryness problems, etc. After 20 some years it definitely was a " knotty " case. I'm not cured, but I sure can do a lot more than I used to do. I continue to learn and fine-tune treatment. I continue to improve. But when I slack off on TCM treatment - if I slack off for too long - I start to lose ground. If I can get this kind of improvement after 20 years, I know that a lot more is possible for people who haven't been sick for decades. BTW, during the worst of this I was having to crawl to the bathroom at night. I couldn't read, couldn't use a computer, and couldn't follow the most mindless sitcom on TV. Sitting up was hard for me. I got improvement from the worst of it with mega-doses of vitamins and minerals and some western herbs. But I was still in very bad shape by the time I saw a TCM herbalist. I got improvement via TCM that I thought I would never get. I would have been happy with slight improvement. I got a lot more. For some time I've been to the point where I can garden and repair and build things around the house. Things I love to do, and missed so much for so long.
