Guest guest
Hi Everyone, A few years back a doctor prescribed finasteride for me, the hair loss drug, althought I told him I was scared of the side effects and didn't want it, he convinced me it was safe. Now after 5 years I still suffer from the side effects. I am currently 27 years old. The side effects include -loss of libido -inability to ejaculate and orgasm -lack of emotions -some errection difficulties (maybe related to stress and low libido) After visiting numerous doctors and not getting the answers I needed. I am currently seeing a TCM practioner. She's trying accupuncture, and prescribing me vitamins and also getting me meds which are suppose to stregthen my liver. Western Ideology: ------------------- In western medicine, my hormones are unbalanced due to use of finasteride, as it supposedly blocks the conversation of Testosterone to DHT, somehow this threw my entire system out of whack and today, I have low DHT, LH (signals the testes to produce testosterone), FSH (signals the testes to produce sperm), low Testosterone, low Free Testosterone and high Estrogen. From my understanding of western medicine testosterone converts to estrogen and estrogen provides the feedback loop for the pituitary to send LH and FSH hormones to produce more testosterone. If anyone knows what herbs or treatment methods to fix this, please let me know. My hormones DHT: 37 Range 25-75 ng/dl (low for my age) Total T: 462 Range 260-1000 ng/dl (low for my age) Free T: 120.8 Range 50-210 pg/ml (low for my age) FSH: 2.3 Range 1.4-18.1 MIU/ML (low for my age) LH: 3.9 Range 1.5-9.3 MIU/ML (low for my age) Estradiol (the strongest Estrogen): 59 PG/ML Range 10-51 PG/ML (Estradiol levels are high) Thank you! Guest guest
She just told me my right kidney and liver felt weak from pulse diagnosis. She said maybe other people don't get the side effects cause they're liver and kidney's are stronger. What should I ask her? Thanks! Guest guest
One more thing, she also said she wants to give me a shot of chrysocan, it's suppose to give good errections up to 2 weeks. Has anyone ever heard of Chrysocan, she said its homeopathic medicine, but I've searched the net and couldn't find any references to it. Thanks!!! Guest guest
Welcome to Chinese Traditional Medicine. I'm playing catch-up with list mail today. Your question and concerns deserve a well-thought-out response. Unfortunately a big storm has hit this area, and the lights already have flickered a couple of times. Hopefully I can get back to answering mail tonight if the storm passes (and we still have power). Anyway, I wanted to let you know that I wasn't just ignoring you. Guest guest
Hi Victoria, Thank you, I really appreciate your help, as I honestly have no idea what to do at the moment. She the TCM practioner, also asked if I wanted to take shot of chrysocor, do you or anyone else know anything about this. I found a link on it, but it doesn't tell me what its composed of http://www.pleosanum.com/medica/m-chrysocor.html Thanks!!! The first thing most TCM healers are going to think when they read those 4 symptoms is Kidney Yang Deficiency? followed by Kidney Jing Deficiency?. Some of the symptoms and signs of Kidney Yang Deficiency include " soreness of the back, cold knees, sensation of cold in the back, aversion to cold, weak legs, bright-white complexion, weak knees, impotence, premature ejaculation, lassitude, abundant-clear urinaltion, scanty-clear urination, apathy, oedema of the legs, infertility in women, poor appetite, loose stools. Tongue: Pale, Swollen, Wet. Pulse: Deep-Weak. key symptoms; cold in the back, abundant-clear urination, Pale tongue, Deep Pulse. " (Giovanni maciocia, The Foundations of , p. 253.) Note that Maciocia mentions " apathy " . This can be another way of saying no emotions. (A Deep pulse is one which can be felt the strongest when a lot of pressure is placed on the wrist. A " Floating " Pulse (see next paragraph) is one that is felt the strongest with the least pressure on the wrist. A Weak pulse is one that is hard to feel.) The symtoms and signs of Kidney Jing (Essence) Deficiency in adults include " softening of bones, weakness of knees and legs, poor memory, loose teeth, falling hair or premature greying of hair, weakness of sexual activity, soreness of the back. Tongue; Red and Peeled. Pulse: Floating-Empty or Leather. Key symptoms: weak knees, falling hair, weak sexual activity. (p. 256.) (An Empty pulse is one that feels " big " (spread out under the finger), but with slight pressure one no longer feels pressure from the pulse. Think of a tube made out of a tissue, and how the least pressure can cause it to " collapse " . A " Leather pulse is one that feels hard and like it's tight ( " stretched like the head of a drum " ) when just a little pressure is placed on the wrist, but when you press harder, it feels empty at the deep level. It's also a large pulse (as opposed to a thin pulse that feels very narrow beneath your finger). I also want to give the signs and symptoms of Kidney Yin Deficiency for reasons which I will explain later. " Dizziness, tinnitus, vertigo, poor memory, deafness, night sweating, dry mouth at night, 5-palm heat, thirst, sore back, ache in bones, nocturnal emissions, constipation, dark-scanty urine. Tongue: Red, no coating, cracks. Pulse: Floating-Empty and Rapid. Key symptoms: dry mouth at night, night sweating, Red-Peeled tongue. (p. 252). The reason I also gave the signs and symptoms for Kidney Yin Deficiency is that if a person is Kidney Yang Deficient, he or she almost always will be Kidney Yin Deficient too but to a much lesser degree. Likewise, if a person is Kidney Yin Deficient, he or she almost always also will be Kidney Yang Deficient to a lesser extent. Over the course of an illness or the course of treatment, the other may come to predominate. A person who is predominately Kidney Yang Deficient will become predominately Kidney Yin Deficient, and vice versa. The Kidneys supply Yang and Yin to the rest of the body. This is why the effects of Kidney Yang or Kidney Yin Deficiency can be so far- reaching. Kidney Yang and Kidney Yin Deficiency can take some time to treat. It doesn't take as long as treating some of the Phlegm disorders, but it can take longer than treating some other imbalances. You may want to get an exact TCM diagnosis from your acupuncturist. That way people on the list can make recommendations about some things you can do for yourself (like diet) in addition to acupunction that may speed the healing time. You mentioned 4 side effects. I can guarantee that in addition to what you told your acupunturist that she was (and is) observing things about you that you didn't even know could be symptoms. Like how strong or weak your voice is, the way you carry yourself, how rapid or how slow you move and speak, any unusual skin tones, etc.
Guest guest
Hi Victoria, I want to thank you for responding to my post in such great detail. I've printed out your response and Im trying to learn more about it. I'm also reading the link you posted www.acupuncture.com/Herbology/Kidney.htm It's quite interesting. I will be seeing my accupunturist soon again, what should I ask her about diagnosis. So far from I've read I should get her diagnosis on my Tongue, Pulse... and is there anything I should ask her. I've been reading and re-reading your response, as Im new to this and would like to understand this more. Im very grateful for your help. Thank you!!! Guest guest
this product you mention is Homeopathic human placenta - this is believed by many to be a general adaptogen because of its ability to stimulate hormonal function throughout the endocrine system - I know nothing about such products study wise - placenta from various animals has been used in traditional systems since long past. Perhaps some TCM practioners here could comment on placenta as medicine - seems to me that gross placenta products and homeopathic products are of a differant nature and the uses would not be the same. Homeopathic substances stimulate immune reaction - gross medicines provide direct supplementation and or balancing. Many famous TCM formulas use placenta in their composition. Many European alternative physicians use placenta products - esspecially the Germans. Guest guest
If one combines Victoria's post on this query with the Michael Tiera article you will have a pretty clear picture of the relationship of kidney yin and yang to adrenal exhaustion. Since the adrenals also are secondary sex hormone producers then we will also see the relationship of the TCM concept of kidney function to gonad function. Testosterone as an example is produced in both the testicles and the adrenals - all of these functions are incorporated in the TCM concept that is known as kidney function. In the west we are not accustomed to thinking of sex functions as being a part of 'kidney function' - but humans have known of this very intimate connection for centuries - most importantly - treating general kidney yin and yang functions will resolve or strengthen sex hormone problems. > > The side effects include > > -loss of libido > > -inability to ejaculate and orgasm > > -lack of emotions > > -some errection difficulties (maybe related to stress and low > libido) > > There is a lot here that needs to be addressed so I'm going to > address different issues in this and other posts. > > The first thing most TCM healers are going to think when they read > those 4 symptoms is Kidney Yang Deficiency? followed by Kidney Jing > Deficiency?. > > Some of the symptoms and signs of Kidney Yang Deficiency > include " soreness of the back, cold knees, sensation of cold in the > back, aversion to cold, weak legs, bright-white complexion, weak > knees, impotence, premature ejaculation, lassitude, abundant-clear > urinaltion, scanty-clear urination, apathy, oedema of the legs, > infertility in women, poor appetite, loose stools.
