numbness/stiffness after surgery

Hello,

I am new to the group and I was wondering if anyone could offer any

suggestions or advice.

A year ago I had palatal expansion surgery, part of my dental and

orthodontic treatment. The surgery has left me with lingering

numbness, stiffness and discomfort on the left side of my face, my

upper left lip and the left side of my nose. When I push gently on

the left side of my face, it feels like there is some swelling or

inflammation, but in the mirror I look fine. Since these symptoms

are affecting the left side of my face but not the right, I think

there is nerve damage, or perhaps residual fluid retention putting

pressure on my nerves. I believe the stiffness is due to scar

tissue. The numbness feels like a novocaine shot that won't wear off.

I have been to several specialists (neurologist, ear nose and throat

doctor, etc.), but none has been able to do anything for me. I have

never before sought alternative treatments, but now I am wondering if

herbal medicine and/or acupuncture might help.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Fred

I have had excellent results with the pineapple enzyme, bromelain, for

healing and reducing swelling. Take it on an empty stomach in-between

meals--if you take it with meals it is a great digestive aid--but it needs

to be taken on an empty stomach for swelling. Some doctors are recommending

this after surgery now---so give it a try. It will also clear up a

persistent ear infection problem.

it also cleans the blood, eats and/or prevents scar tissue...I took it after

surgery for this.

Dear Troy and Michelle:

I just looked up bromelain on the internet and it looks like a great

idea, THANK YOU for the tip. Do you think it will help me 11 months

after my surgery though? I guess it would not hurt to try.

Thanks,

Fred
