Guest guest
I am sorry to report that I am yet again having to find another acupuncturist! Each and every time I have had to talk to the past practitioner about using " less juice " with the needles. The last session he had them in in such a way that I could not move a muscle on the table and this was after I asked him to back them off. After than he did acupressure which resulted in a huge bruise on my neck which throbbed for days and several very severe spasm in my back which had lasted for 3 days in spite of icing each day. I am very concerned that he has messed something up because this portion of my back was not a problem before I went to see him. I told him that I had had back surgery and have three bulged disks in my neck so I feel this borders on malpractice to be so rough. I cannot express how annoying this is in that I told him I left the last acuncturist because she was too aggressive in her treatment. As an aside, I asked him every single time for my diagnosis and treatment plan in writing because what he said to me I was not able to totally retain after I left the office . . . it is difficult to rehearse and memorize when I am supposed to be relaxing which is hard in that situation as it was. Hence why I have never been able to discuss my diagnosis on this list....I never got a complete one. Each time I went in he had something different to say. I have TWO other great acupuncturists, both in different states, so I have some excellent acupuncture with which to compare. Almost all Chinese practitioners that I have been to are against ice however with my body with swelling, pain, and inflammation, ice works extremely well. I have had back surgery, have bulged disks in my neck, a torn tendon in my shoulder, ankle, have had surgery in both hands and also have damaged nerves in my feet. I would not be able to live without ice at times. I get plenty of exercise and use several types of massagers so it is to be hoped that that will overcome come of the stagnating properties of ice :-) > > different states, so I have some excellent > > acupuncture with which to compare. > > I'm glad you have two great ones. Yes, I can understand that. Do you have heat inflammation, then? Red colour, hot to the touch, aggravated by pressure? The CFIDS/associatd patients I have seen do not exhibit the above very strongly, and I wonder if you do, or if you achieve good results even though you have cold / vacuity type inflammation. > I have had back surgery, have bulged disks in my > neck, a torn tendon in > my shoulder, ankle, have had surgery in both hands > and also have > damaged nerves in my feet. :/ > I would not be able to live without ice at times. I am interested to know if you do experience any clear deleterious effects from ice. > I get plenty of exercise and use several types of > massagers > so it is to be hoped that that will overcome come of > the > stagnating properties of ice :-) You seem on top of it, best wishes! Do you have heat >inflammation, then? Red colour, hot to the touch, >aggravated by pressure? I have injuries from exercise . . . Yesterday we were supposed to go for a light run of about 45-50 min. We went in a reservoir area . . . My hubby's idea was to go up the hill near the power lines . . . different trails. I ran one solid hour and walked two solid hours to get out. My knee is twingie. I am going to use ice! :-) > The CFIDS/associatd patients I have seen do not >exhibit the above very strongly, and I wonder if you >do, or if you achieve good results even though you >have cold / vacuity type inflammation. > If I did not get EXCELLENT results I would not use it. I came home and use the massager machine after I had been massaging and rubbing while I was walking. Since that wasn't enough I went with ice. I don't normally even remember to use ice because I forget, but it is hurts enough for me to remember my ice packs in the freezer, then it is time to use them. I am an Type O bloodtype and need vigorous exercise, CFS, or FM, or not. I do not do well unless I force myself to exercise at least 5 days a week. General routine is to train M-F, rest on Sat. or Sun. and a leisurely 2-mile walk on the other day. > > I am interested to know if you do experience any >clear deleterious effects from ice. > Would you expand upon that statement please? for example ? > > I get plenty of exercise and use several types of > > massagers > > so it is to be hoped that that will overcome come of > > the stagnating properties of ice :-) > > You seem on top of it, best wishes! When I was younger I was always too hot. It is just in the last 5 years that I seem cold a lot of the time. I don't put ice packs on my chest or upper back where my lungs are. That area is where I feel cold. I can lay uncovered on an acupuncture table EXCEPT for my lung area. . . I have to have that covered. So I assume that is lung problems from something wrong with my kidneys. I just have not been able to find an acupuncturist who will TALK to me about this. It is like they think I won't understand or they are afraid of the licensing laws here in CT. One actually told me she was not ALLOWED to give a diagnosis. Silly. I think the last guy was probably just too lazy to write one up. He has still not called from my messages on Sat. and Mon. ^. .^ ~ " Enjoy the edge you're on . . . don't think about the one to come! Hugo, could you post some more on cold/ vacuity type inflammation and compare and contrast it with heat/ excess inflammation. Thanks.
