Thanks for the tip. It's a long time to cherry season. >>BTW, after we moved, among the first things I planted were cherry trees. I actually got a few the first year. Great, I hope that the years will give you amounts in greater abundance. Food as medicine when it works always seems best. <<Please let me know how the cherry juice works out for you. I will do that. So far I am noticing that the juice is forcing out some sort of crystal like substance through the skin (ear). This ear has been bothering me ever since I had the flu about four years ago. Herbs sometimes have done this too (each time the ear feels better and the fleeting pains within it lessen), so I think that the juice is having a cleansing effect on my body. Hopefully this extends to the kidneys. The book I mentioned earlier (What Your Doctor May Not Tell You about Fibromyalgia) discusses the fact that because the phosphorus/calcium becomes unbalanced and thus accumulates in the body as crystals this can cause many sorts of seemingly disparate symptoms, including joint pain, muscle pain, irritable bladder/bowels, sinus, migraines, cold symptoms, chronic fatigue and on and on. I found the linking of all these disparate symptoms (Western style) interesting and as usual it seems that mainstream medicine is ignoring this protocol despite some pretty good evidence that it works for many who have this diagnosis. Unlike most doctors this physician has done some long term research with his patients and has some impressive credentials with the medical school at UCLA. I also found it interesting that Dr. Amand talked about gout which, while he does not feel it is connected to fibromyalgia itself, perhaps shows a similar inability of the body to deal with minerals properly. He attributes this to a lack of the right enzymes in the body, a genetic problem. Personally I would opt for illnesses over a life time triggering this reaction in genetically susceptible people. If the illness works down into the body instead of being brought out to the surface and expelled (as is done in TCM) then it will settle in to work its mischief. Anyway, the drug he uses can actually make symptoms improve to almost nothing, but the protocol is, as are most Western medicine protocols, life long and involves too many no no's to make me comfortable plus the use of a chemical drug long term. So you can see why when I read on the juice site that the cherry juice was helping people with both gout and fibromyalgia my ears sort of perked up. Perhaps it cleanses the kidneys in a way similar to the drug (which is derived from the herb guiacom or ironwood). Anyway, if it works as the drug does symptoms may worsen for a while and mine seem to be (sinus is acting up, stomach is acting up, I have had some transient pains in my legs and have felt headachey, though due to TCM I do not think I will have the severe symptoms of the past--herbs too can help. I am convinced of that). I am more willing to drink a glass or two of cherry juice for life than I am to take a drug which, in order to work, would restrict my ability to use herbs and eat a lot of foods which contain larger amounts of salicylates or even to use cleaning products or toiletries which contain them--all plants have them to greater or lesser extents. This is interesting , In Tibb Medicine, the first step is to detox the body, which can take from3 days to a week, normally or longer if the illness was an extended one. After this time 3 days or more a crisis point is reached and where the patient gets worse before they get better. they may have headaches , vomit , nausea, etc. this is due to toxins being resolved and the bodily humors coming into balance. in effect the cure has taken place and the patient must then adopt a diet and lifestyle to maintain their health.
