Moxibustion for beginers?

This isn't something I'd try to learn from a book! I've read books about it but

I wouldn't

attempt to put any of it into practice without a qualified practitioner at least

looking over

my shoulder. My understanding of moxa is that it's used primarily for

tonification &

stimulation, so it can make excess conditions worse, and one should also know

other

modalities (needles, massage, etc) as well. OK end of lecture.

 

If you must, blue poppy has a pretty good book :

 

Tieh Ta Ke: Traditional Chinese Traumatology and First Aid

by Bob Flaws

 

If memory serves, it covers the moxa, needles & needle hammers, cupping &

formulas. It

was written with martial artists in mind. Trouble is, it doesn't seem to be in

print any

more.
