Hi Liz - Thanks for your note

I definitely feel that most of what has been going wrong with me is due to the

hormone imbalances during menopause. I do use progesterone cream, small amount,

but when I have hot flashes sometimes I get nauseous just like I did when I was

a teen. But the weakening of stomach, liver, kidney, spleen, etc., I am sure

is to do hormonal changes. Some people are not nearly hit so hard and don't

even hardly notice it. It has hit me very hard. I cannot imagine what it

would have been like it I had not taken care of myself and exercised my entire

life.

There is stress from the building I live in and she had said I have heat rising.

It can also be triggered by emotional upset. I am in a situation where I have

no place to go to get a break from it. I used to in another city have a house

instead of an apartment and the keys to two different places where I work so I

always could get a change of scenery. Not now which is very stressful. My

office is in my home, unfortunately.

She said to try to get the energy to go downward (opposite of heat rising) by

meditation or to " cool down "

Easier said that done with environmental situations which are out of my control.

This really became exacerbated when people two floors down kept me awake most of

the night for 5 straight months. That stomach/liver pain acutally started

immediately after that.

>It is possible that you were sensitive to the enzymes you took or didn't need

>them. Enzymes can cause a cleansing reaction to the whole digestion at

>first, I would have stopped taking them too if my symptoms were that strong.

I had never had heartburn in my life until I took the digestive enzymes and the

stools got small as if I had spasms.

When I quit all of that went away. Too bad it took me a week to figure out

what it was. I was concerned I had done some damage. But all of the seemed to

have gone away within a week of stopping.

>I wanted to answer back earlier but got my period and felt so out of balance.

>By the way, I had needles treat my period one month and it really works.

However

>it didn't carry over to other months and I cannot afford to get treated each

month.

>Moxa was then used on the needles.

I had a guy in Minneapolis who did Moxa along with walking on my back with the

acupuncture. I also had another Chinese woman in Mpls. who did needles. A

different Chinese woman in upstate NY, and yet a different here in CT. It is

interesting even though they were all trained in China how differently they

approach the treatments. The first two did not hurt at all, and all the others

I have had over 25 years didn't. But the last ones were just more than I could

tolerate after several months.

>Also while having a few needles in my abdomen I tried to relax and then took

>a deep breath. Well that wasn't the best idea. The traveling, shocking pain I

>felt got me a bit worried. I was told it was because of my movements and the

>needles are placed in far. I can't imagine getting a massage done while the

>needles are in there!!!! Ohhh!!!

I mistated myself. She did acupuncture on my back first, for about 45-60 min.

then I would turn over and had it on my stomach and feet for 45-60 min. After

than should would massage a few points each time. But she went VERY deep into

my stomach and I was totally relaxed and wasn't expected that and it was just

too much for me like that 2ce a week. I have a very sensitive body which has

always responded extremely quickly to accupuncture and I don't need that much

intensive work.

>For some reason, I also cannot drink milk well and grains seem to bother my

>gut more.

The more I don't eat grains and dairy the greater I feel. It gets boring after

a while, being a typical American, to now have only veigs and proteins.

Ocassionally we make spelt pasta at home, but other than rice on occasion I

don't eat grains or flour. I don't eat fruit too often because I am concerned

about my blood sugar, but actually the acupuncture seems to have helped my blood

sugar a lot. I used to have to eat every 2 hours like clockwork and now I can

go 4 hours without eating for the first time in 20 years. She said that as my

stomach got better my blood sugar problems would straighten out. I said isnt'

that controlled by pancreas and she just shrugged. She not like to argue, but

the stomach work did help my blood sugar.

>I haven't pinned down the source of the problem yet. I am not

>lactose intolerant. I read about gluten sensitivity, maybe that. ??

I know that this is not the list for this, but quite a number of years ago I

started following the Eat Right for Your Type which goes by blood type. That

has been the ONE huge different in my entire life. I have always eaten organic

food, worked in a coop during the 70s, etc. In fact I grew up on a truck farm

and we raised a lot of stuff when I was a kid, chickens, etc., and I sort of

kept that natural way of life. My hubby was reading Adelle Davis while I was

working in the co-ops even though we didn't meet for decades later, LOL. So

he is healthy too and that makes it easy as we always have only healthy food in

the house.

But I very carefully stay away from avoids for my blood type and it has helped

tremendously.

>I wanted to add to this thread about my experience with bath soap. I was using

>many products around the house with sodium laureth sulfate in it. I was

getting

>fatigue beyond measure and depression.

I never thought of that. Dr. Hulda Clark is big on watching everything.

Usually I put my Aveda shampoo in the water, a little.

What do you use for shampoo, castille soap ?

Dr. Clark recommends borax crystals.

>I just had 3 good months of acupuncture raising my energy levels and 2 months

later crashed after taking

>a shower. I thought I was feeling bad by something I was eating. HA!!

That is exaclty what she was trying to do is raise my energy levels, when I

first went in I was rather depressed and lethargic.

>I read allot about this ingredient and it wasn't good news. It is a synthetic

ingredient

>and it is possible that my system isn't breaking down and removing inorganic

>ingredients.

Oh I see. I should take a look at that. Is there any kind of shampoo which

is pure and can double as bath gel?

>I mentioned that I tried getting treatment for the rib cage pain without

results.

>Also what I was complaining about was pain in my spinal column from the back

>of my neck to between my shoulder blades.

That is EXACTLY the same place I am having tightness !!!!

>And an irritating pain in my right

>lower back that felt like a knitting needle being stuck in me. When the pain

would

>get strong I was sure to get constipated.

I hope you don't have a back problem. I had had back surgery 14 years ago. I

am not suggesting you have back problems, but I know that sort of pain exactly.

>My acupuncturist told me that this lower back pain isn't related to a meridian

but

>she didn't know what it was. She placed needles there and even used the TENS

>unit. Felt good that day and then returned.

uuummmm....

>The morning I discovered my soap was making me fatigued and I stopped using

>it. Three days went by and this pain in my lower back went away completely.

>So did the pain along my spine area.

Okay, so it is the soap and not nerve damage. Great

Can you tell I read as I write. Not good. LOL

>Also to mention here is that the pain in my

>rib cage reduced considerably. So this area must be a pathway for toxins to

>compile. I am guessing the liver dumps it into the intestines choking off some

>channels.

Well, I have a confession to make. I did something really stupid last summer.

I started using faux tanning supplies.

Now I would check the ingredients, but still, my husband said " Well, if it

changes the color of your skin, it cannot be healthy. . . . " Meanwhile the

Grrls with the gorgeous tans get all the stares, right. I am extremely pale

skinned and I looked great it in. I would use it every week one summer and

then started the beginning of last summer.

Combines with menopause I am sure this really hurt my liver. Sooooooo, no more

faux tanner for this Grrl. ;-)

So I am very much appreciative that you mention the shampoo. Never thought of

that but since I shampoo my hair every day and use it as bath gel, that would

make sense.

>I have stopped using these products. I am now wondering about what might be

>causing this rib cage pain if it is connected to my diet? I am sure that could

be a

>factor. I found petrochemicals a problem too.

I don't drink water packaged in plastic, normally, just Gerolsteiner water or

however it is spelled.

>I am wondering too if this really is a meridian issue now that I removed a main

>source of the problem? What I seem to feel is this: Like a person who has a

>tendency for getting headaches, many different things could trigger it. Like

with

>this ribcage pain, many things could trigger it. It is a weak area.

Well, I don't have headaches except for rare times during my life or when I am

around things which I am allergic to like an extreme amount of dust or perfumes

or candle products, etc., or before I get the flu or a cold.

I have been putting fresh lime juice on all the floor boards near the heaters in

my apt. and it seems to be killing the mold. Dr. Clark said mold cannot live

in lime juice. She recommends drinking it, but I kept wondering whether I had a

citrus allergy ... never showed up on blood tests, but I decided to leave citrus

alone for a while and see what happens when I reintroduce it.

>I have been off the products for 1 month. However I understand a person

detoxing

>from drugs takes 3-4 months. Could this apply to me too? So many things I

don't

>know.

It can take 90 days for some chemicals to leave your body, I believe that is

correct. What are you using, if I may ask.

>I did have my liver meridian treated and I felt so relaxed. I slept so deeply.

It is

>a benefit for relaxation for a stressed out person. I hope my experience is

helpful

>for someone not relating the soap products to their symptoms. However I still

>have some irritation there too but not extreme

I had my husband take the massage machine and put in on my back and also on the

bottom of my feet when I had terrible insomnia. That did help. So maybe

using massager on meridians or points would be helpful as well.

>I am interested in starting back to see my acupuncturist because she doesn't

>know about this occurrence and would be interested. If I have more knowledge

>it would make a productive next visit.

Good luck with that and hope some people can give you good advice! Thanks very

much for your note as it was very thought provoking!!! Night ~

Cheers, Cat
