Energy Qualities in Food Compounds

Hi.

 

I´m aware of the various texts on food and diet as medicine in TCM.

But I´ve yet to come across any reference to the energies of various food

cobinations or extracts, for example; Does Tahini have the same energy

qualities as Sesame; or does " yuebing " (moon cake?) have the qualites of

the beans and sugar its composed of. Come to think of it do the various

methods of cooking effect the energy qualities of foods and their

combinations.

Yes. Steaming makes the food more Yin; frying makes it more Yang.

 

You'll notice some Chiense restaurants offer more stir-fired dishes

in the cold, winter months than they do in warmer months.

 

Winter is the time of maximum Yin; summer is the time of maximum Yang.
