Guest guest
Hello, First, An introduction - I am not a practioner either, but I have been learning and trying various acu and TCM tools for the last three years and getting some good results. My main " patient " has been my 14-yr-old lab, who used to have terrible arthritis until we found a treatment regimen that works for her. Now I've adopted a malnourished, timid terrier who tested positive for adult heartworms. The new dog is less than a year old, so I know he can't have too many of them yet, but before I allow the vet to poison him with arsenic to get rid of them, do any of you have any ideas? I looked in " Four Paws, Five Directions " , but there is nothing in it about parasites of any kind. I thought about just working on strengthening the heart meridian... Any thoughts? Your input is greatly appreciated! Guest guest
Hi Franny, Welcome to Chinese Traditional Medicine. I'm afraid I don't know much about vetenary TCM, but hopefully someone else on here can offer some help. Victoria
Guest guest
Hi Franny. As for your question, when it comes to heartworms, I wouldn't take a chance. This dog suffers. I myself, though I am into alternative med, treating my dogs with heartworm pills, that also take care of other known worms. Heartworms are very dangerous and need to be removed as soon as possible. I don't know any other way for treating them, if you will find out I'll be happy to know about that, in the meantime, I wouldn't wait too long.
