I have a bad fracture of both bones in forearm - now pinned and plated, so

two big surgical wounds too. I had absolutely no pain in hospital on

morphine, even on just a touch at night in addition to the

codeine/paracetemol/diclofenac pills 4x daily. First 24hrs at home fine, now

48 hrs pain increasing.I guess effects of the morphine took a while to wear

off completely.

I have some Yunnan Payao -is that the right thing to take, and OK with the

western drugs?

Also was doing really well with my post-prandial high insulin symptoms on

Jiao gu lan and green tea - would those be OK?

Thanks

Jackie

Its primary application is acute traumatic bleeding.

Hi Jackie,

Sorry about your accident and surgery. Hope you soon are feeling a

lot better.

I'm leaving the herb questions to people far more knowledgeable about

specific herbs than I am.

One thing I want to remind those new to TCM about is that any time

someone has a bad accident or surgery, Blood Stasis is a risk. Blood

Stasis is recognized as one of the possible Root causes of pain. Qi

Stagnation is another, and the two frequently go hand in hand in the

case of accidents and/or surgery. You may want to do some research

into Blood Stasis and Qi Stagnation.

One of the most commonly available herbs for Blood Stasis is chives.

A non-TCM treatment that works very well for bruising (one of the

manifestations of Blood Stasis) is a salt and apple cider vinegar

pack. Don't put the pack on top of the incisions (or on top of

wounds) as this could be very painful considering that salt is in the

pack. Put it away from the incision (or wound) over areas that are

bruised or were bruised. (Bruising can clear up without the Blood

Stasis being corrected.) Leave in place for an hour at a time or

longer. It's a smelly and not very neat treatment, but it can work

wonders in cases of bruising and Blood Stasis.
