Guest guest
This past weekend I did the liver/GB flush (my first one). I found it easy and effective and plan on continuing with them monthly as recommended. I also have received all my supplements except the OPC, which I am starting today. I am asking for recommended dosages of several items. First, I got Lugol’s and it came with no instructions. Need an amount/frequency/with or without foods and how to take it like in food or straight orally. The second item is the Black Seed Oil. I put a teaspoon in my green/fruit smoothie this morning. And all morning have been burping it up. Not a pleasant reaction. So in addition to what dosage I should be taking, I also would like advise on how to take it. Guest guest
Hi Laura,If you follow the FDA and ADA recommendations you would take a microscopic amount of Lugol's solution. In applied contemporary nutrition, you take 2 drops per day in a few onces of water. If you need to build up on iodine, you can take up to 20 drops per day. But, caution, if you have Hashimoto's thyroiditis, you must first get it into remission before you load iodine. A blood test will give the needed information.Dr. Goebel--- On Mon, 4/20/09, Laura <starflower wrote:Laura <starflower Need some advise Plzoleander soup Date: Monday, April 20, 2009, 1:28 PM This past weekend I did the liver/GB flush (my first one). Guest guest
Hi Laura More information about iodine. Dosage depends on what concentration of Lugol’s you have. Most of the iodine docs recommend that cancer patients begin with at least 50-100 mg/day. Two drops of the 5% equals 12.5 mg. If you have the 2.2% then 2 drops will be approximately 6 mg. Many who use iodine experience bromide detox symptoms; however, not everyone does – but, it is always better to be prepared. I have found that those who do the most cleansing (liver/gallbladder, parasites, digestive tract) usually exhibit less detox symptoms. …50 mg/day of iodine in an individual ill with a serious illness such as cancer or an autoimmune disorder may be insufficient to meet their needs. My clinical and laboratory experience has shown that ill individuals generally need more iodine as compared to healthy individuals. At 25-50 mg/day of iodine, it may take years for an ill individual to become iodine sufficient. In these cases, I sometimes recommend increased dosages of iodine. Excerpt from Dr. David Brownstein’s article – Iodine Deficiency: An Under Recognized Epidemic The following is mainly from www.breastcancerchoices.org Iodine Supplementation Protocol with Companion Nutrients · Vitamin C – 2,000 - 4,000 mg per day (more may be necessary to detox bromide). · 300-600 mg magnesium  (Magnesium Oil such as Ancient Minerals is also a good choice because it is transdermal). · 200 mcg selenium. · 500 mg niacin (B3) twice a day. (NOT niacinamide) Start lower to avoid flush. · 100 mg Vitamin B2 three times a day. (Make sure that you include a B-Complex while taking the B3 and B2; never take B vitamins individually without including a B-Complex) · A comprehensive vitamin and nutrition program along with a very healthy diet. · (Feb 2008) Dr. Guy Abraham cautions that " excess calcium supplementation (2,000-3,000 mg/day) has been the most common cause of poor response to iodine supplementation. The salt is added to water in a specific way. Eating salty food is not effective. Table salt is only used in an emergency. Some members of the Amazon discussion group have found the Salt Loading Protocol devised by Dr. William Shevin (and presented at the February '07 Iodine Conference) to be effective in eliminating the side effects such as bromide sedation, acne, brain fog, brassy taste, mouth sores, frontal headache or other symptoms which occur in a small percentage of patients. · 1/4 teaspoon salt dissolved in 1/2 cup warm water. Follow immediately with 12-16 oz pure water. · Repeat in 30-45 minutes if needed. May repeat again until copious urination begins. · Observe subjective response (usually within several hours). · Iodine Investigation Project participants have found 1/2 teaspoon salt dissolved in the recommended amount of water works faster than the 1/4 teaspoon dosage. * Pulse dosing of iodine has often helped our participants with detox symptoms: taking a two day break from iodine supplementation as needed seems to enhance the kidneys' ability to excrete bromide. These are only our observations as educated patients. Consult your own physician about your particular iodine regimen. No consensus exists on how important the salt loading may be to an iodine therapy strategy if the patient does not have adverse symptoms. Be sure to ask your doctor before implementing salt loading or any medical strategy. Guest guest
Hi, just wanted to put in what i had found about iodine. Perchlorate What is perchlorate?Perchlorate is a compound consisting of one chlorine and four oxygen atoms. It is produced for industrial uses and is also present as part of certain rare geologic deposits. Perchlorate can exist as the solid salts of ammonium, potassium, or other metals.. Approximately 90% of the perchlorate produced by U.S. manufacturers has been for use as an oxidizer in solid rocket fuel, and most of the remaining 10% is used in military and civilian explosives, munitions, and pyrotechnics, (which includes items such as flares and smoke grenades). Why is perchlorate of concern? Perchlorate has potential adverse health effects Perchlorate may have an effect on ecosystems Perchlorate is difficult to remove with standard water-treatment processes Perchlorate salts readily dissolve in water and can persist for many decades under typical groundwater and surface water conditions How might perchlorate affect one’s health?Perchlorate interferes with iodide uptake into the thyroid gland. Because iodide is an essential component of thyroid hormones, perchlorate disrupts how the thyroid functions. In adults, the thyroid helps to regulate metabolism. In children, the thyroid plays a major role in proper development, in addition to metabolism. Impairment of thyroid function in expectant mothers may impact the fetus and newborn, and result in effects including changes in behavior, delayed development and decreased learning capabilities. Changes in thyroid hormone levels also may result in thyroid gland tumors. --- On Tue, 4/21/09, Dr. Loretta Lanphier <drlanphier wrote: Dr. Loretta Lanphier <drlanphierRE: Need some advise Plzoleander soup Date: Tuesday, April 21, 2009, 3:05 AM Hi LauraMore information about iodine.
