Guest guest
You are all wonderful! I forwarded today's messages about throat cancer to my friend's cousin who is debating radiation. He has cancer in his mouth. Plus, of course, all the suggestions for dealing with the side effects of radiation, and contacts with people with mouth and throat cancer (with their permission). And Renee, thanks for the reminder about living healthily with cancer, and Egoscue. I'm amazed that I feel so well, much better for sure than I did during and after chemo. I have large tumors distending one side of my abdomen. The mention of Egoscue reminded me of a strange incident; years ago, I was strolling in the RV park where I was staying near San Diego, when a conversation began. Invited for tea, I learned that my new acquaintance's husband had recently had open heart surgery, and was in severe back pain, waiting until it was 'time' for the next pain meds. I asked him if he'd be willing to lie on the floor on a couple of towels and try a spasm-reducing posture suggested by Egoscue. He agreed, so we used cushions and a hassock to use the Egoscue posture. Instant relief! He was so thankful, he bought copies of Egoscue's book for his heart surgeon's office, and insisted on taking me to lovely dinners that year and the following winter when I returned to the same RV park. The surgeon refused to allow Egoscue's books in his waiting room and refused to tell other patients about the posture! A friend's husband is awaiting open heart surgery. I'd completely forgotten Egoscue and this incident. But now, I'll wait and see how he does during surgery, and then ask whether he's in back pain and wants a suggestion for postural relief. This group is GREAT! Rhoda
