California man charged with selling fake cancer cure

CNN

(CNN) — A California man who claimed to have the cure to cancer will be in court

Monday after being arrested for practicing medicine without a license and

supplying patients with supplements containing non-FDA-approved drugs.

Kurt Walter Donsbach, 73, of Bonita, California, faces 11 felony charges ranging

from treating patients without a license, misbranding drugs for sale, grand

theft and unlawfully dispensing drugs as a cure for cancer, according to a

statement from the San Diego County District Attorney's office.

He was arrested Friday during his Internet radio broadcast, the DA's office

said.

A joint FBI and Food and Drug Administration investigation revealed that

Donsbach is not licensed in California as a physician, chiropractor or

naturopathic doctor despite claims to the contrary on his Web site.

Among the patients treated by Donsbach was Coretta Scott King, the widow of

slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr who died three years ago at his

holistic health center in Rosarita Beach, Mexico.

Bail is set at $1.5 million for Donsbach, and if convicted, he will face a

maximum of six years in prison.

No, and actually I had the doctor a bit confused with another one. The doctor we had been discussing is not a quack, but is very opinionated (apparently without offering much details or justifications for some of those opinions) and does seem to be a promoter for the Tiajuana clinic. He is not actually a doctor, but a chemist - and in my opinion he is very wrong about digestive enzymes.
