Guest guest
hi yes, it is essential. something is better than nothing and i believe 100mg per day provides the minimum protection from bad metals and halogens. this is based upon common exposures in the US. your mileage may vary. as for the selenium for cancer questions i am getting: http://cat.inist.fr/?aModele=afficheN & cpsidt=15514448 Methylselenol from selenium metabolism is postulated to be and most experimental evidence now indicates that it is the selenium metabolite responsible for the dietary chemoprevention of cancers. Using the recombinant enzyme methioninase, methylselenol-generating chemiluminesence by superoxide (O2.-) is shown to be catalytically produced from L-selenomethionine and D,L-selenoethio-nine, but not from methionine or L-Se-methylselenocysteine (SeMC). Methylselenol enzymaticaly generated by methioninase activity from the substrate selenomethionine arises from an initial putative selenium radical as measured by chemiluminesence in the absence of glutathione (GSH). In the presence of GSH, superoxide was generated as measured by chemiluminesence and superoxide dismutase inhibition of chemiluminescence. Ascorbic acid also quenched the chemiluminesence from the activity of methioninase with selenomethionine. Methylselenol and other redox cycling selenium compounds are almost assuredly accountable for inducing cell-cycle arrest and apoptosis in cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. Methylselenol generated from selenomethionine by methioninase is catalytic alone in oxidizing thiols, i.e. GSH, generating superoxide and inducing oxidative stress in direct proportion to its concentration. Se-methylselenocysteine in vivo is very likely carcinostatic in like manner to selenomethionine by generating methylselenol from other enzymatic activity, i.e. beta-lyase or amino acid oxidases. dr richard olree, co-author of minerals for the genetic code, also reccommends selenomethionine and makes this his only supplement at 800mcg per day. he needs iodine. oleander soup , overloaded wrote: > > Hello, is it ok to take iodine just as a supplement? > > " iodinetime " <trapperkcmo > > Tue, 07 Apr 2009 02:52:40 > <oleander soup > > Re: iodine > > > lugols is a fine supplement. the others are a better and more for advanced users. if lugols is working for you then stick with it. you do need to take selenomethionine, though. 800mcg per day with your meals. you can take it all at once or divide it up. i take my 800 all at once with my meal for the day. > > how did you get lead? how do you know its lead? if so, add 3-30 grams of ascorbic acid per day. i like and use sodium ascorbate, but others will work. > > definitely add selenomethionine to your regimen. > > > oleander soup , Helen Wang <dingyung49@> wrote: > > > > > > What is SSKI? What is Magnasent iodine? I have been taking lugol's solution and am planning to do heavy metal detoxing due to high lead. Do I need the other two?
