Yeah, I had one of those many years ago myself. Which is why I know a lot about back exercises and also why I thought initially that I had tweaked my back. I too have been relatively pain free all those years, but there have been times when I have overdone it that caused me a day or so of discomfort. This time, that might play a part but I am virtually positive that the hernia is the major problem.

As you know, when a disc bulges out and presses against the nerve (or in this case a hernia lets a distended part of the lower abdomen do so), it causes the muscles to spasm, which in turn puts even more pressure on the nerve, causing the muscles to spasm that much more . . . and you can only break that cycle by immobilizing the back and taking muscle relaxers and/or the right back exercises to stretch the back and loosen the muscles and pressure.

In this case, those do not help.
