Guest guest
Does agave nectar feed cancer cells in the same way that sugar does? I know that it doesn;t raise insulin levels. Is that the same thing? I'm so bored with my limited diet, and miss chocolate and candy a lot. I'd love to be able to mix organic cocoa with agave for a frequent treat. Guest guest
Hi Rhoda,Dr Mercola says Agave is actually worse than sugar. Apparently it is more concentrated and will raise your blood sugar even more. He says it is not as dangerous as artificial sweeteners, however he would not use or recommend it.Have you tried Xylitol? I use it very sparingly. It tastes very much like sugar and looks like it, too. Only 2.4 calories per gram or 40% less than other carbohydrates. It is not a strange or artificial substance, but is widely distributed throughout nature in small amounts. Some of the best sources are fruits, berries, mushrooms, lettuce, hardwoods and corn cobs. From memory it also doesn't cause caries and is alkalizing. It can make some people bloat however (me), and for that reason Donna Gates from Body Ecology recommends Lakanto. I have never tried that one. I know others in this forum use it and have reported good results.Hope this helps,Blessings, Eva.--- On Thu, 3/19/09, Maria Stathopoulos <mary1kon wrote:Maria Stathopoulos <mary1konRe: OT - agave nectaroleander soup Date: Thursday, March 19, 2009, 5:04 AM Rhoda i dont know about agave nectar, but why dont you use stevia, stevia is 100 times sweeter then sugar, so you dont have to use to much has no calories and is a herb, just a thought.
