Guest guest
fellow oleanderites, last night i did the olive oil/grapefruit juice/epsom salt cleanse. not very pleasant, but very successful! i used to be a heavy drinker, and i had some stones that were pea sized. wow! most were of a size and shape similar to that of colored aquarium gravel. easily two hundred plus throughout the day today. all i can say is that i'm glad they are GONE. i stayed the night at my mother's house and we both did the cleanse. she got very sick after the second dose of salts, so we had to abort. we are going to wait a few weeks again try again. my question is this-- i'm 30, 6'1, 165# and in good health, and the epsom was a lot for me to handle, but i did. my mother is in her late 60's, 5'5, 110# and the same dose of epsom made her very ill (almost lost consciousness from vomiting) and she had to abort. the protocol doesn't specify to adjust dosage based on a person's size, but has anybody who is smaller in stature had results by say, cutting the amount of salts/apple juice mixture in half? (or possibly with 2 tbsp rather than 4 in the three cups of juice that was called for in the protocol?) also, here's a tip-- i know many have remarked about the taste and texture of the olive oil/grapefruit juice mixture, so i put my cook's brain to use. i did it with 3/4 cup grapefruit juice and 1/2 cup oil, just like the protocol specifies, but i made it like a salad dressing in the food processor! i put the juice in first, turned it on, then slowly drizzled the oil in to emulsify with the juice and it was actually delicious. that will definitely be one of my new organic salad dressings! love and blessings from rainy seattle, sean. Guest guest
Sean, that is a great idea - a new dressing! We just don't bother with the epsom salts. We eat raw fruit & veg for a few days, then drink a lot of fresh apple juice and eat radishes beforehand. The apple juice is very cleansing. DH won't ever do the flush again as he never liked olive oil to begin with. He was sick as a dog from 0300 onwards, but still managed to expel some stones next day. Oddly, after that bout with the olive oil, any dressings or oil used in food is pleasant by comparison, for him, so that has been a real benefit. He now buys organic extra virgin olive oil!I detest epsom salts after having to do the 2 gal clean-out required for a barium enema and also for a colonoscopy. Apparently it is a bit more humane nowadays. I should hope so!At least they sedate patients for the colonoscopy. It was the roiling belly and the burning ring of fire that got me! DS only had light chaff, but he has been on the best diet of any of us, due to bowel problems following vaccination. The second one he did, there was nothing much at all, so we haven't bothered doing it for him again. Even without the epsom salts, I had stones for about 4 cleanses. Perhaps it's worth experimenting. I love apples and I like radishes so there is no problem. Apparently they soften the stones and make them easier to pass. Perhaps I am an insensitive clod - I've never been awake long enough to even notice their passage. The apples and radishes will probably keep us clear, so we won't need to do the flush so often, and not at all in the case of DH. (What a baby!)
