I can relate to that Janet. I am an RN with 15 years of critical experience in Australia, Germany, the UK and the US. And the attitude you described pervades the medical profession, even my birth country of Germany. I am fortunate that my dad is a retired Chiropractor, so I grew up with the alternative view on everything. I sadly strayed from my roots for a while there in my life. I decided to take a leave of absence from work to avoid the negative opinions from the medical profession when I was diagnosed with a sarcoma and after my operation all they could offer me was a watch and wait approach. My nursing colleagues were shocked that I would do hard hitting alternative approaches to get my immune system back on track and I had the overwhelming sense from them that they already had my plot picked out at the

local cometary. No one could understand that Chemo and Radiation were not on my treatment plan. Or that I wasn't pushing for it as a preventative. Only one RN was positive about it, a recent graduate from nursing school, and she told me that she had learned that Chinese medicine had roughly the same cure rate for diseases - but obviously took an entirely different approach. I thought that was interesting that this was even taught!I agree with a lot of things Ann Coulter says, however it is very evident she isn't correct on everything...Eva.--- On Fri, 2/20/09, lostrin <lostrin wrote:lostrin <lostrin I think I get it...oleander soup Date: Friday, February 20, 2009, 12:43 AM

Re: decisions...If the woman was a nurse for X years then she would have heard scorn for all those wacky alternative methods among the staff where she worked. For her to accept another method would be like asking to change her entire world view. In her professional life, she was educated to support the cut, burn and poison method. All those people she would have seen suffering. The mind contrives powerful denial strategies to cope with the truth.

People who are not health pros reject alt methods, I can't imagine it being very easy for a nurse or a doctor. She doesn't think she's choosing death. She is fearful that the alt methods will kill her faster. I've heard this verbatim on Fox news. "That stuff from the health food store will kill you." Spoken by the most disingenuous Ann coulter.

Hi Eva,It's always so fascinating to me to hear how people came to know about alternative methods. In your case it makes sense of your dad was a chiropractor. It is a piercing sadness to hear stories like yours though - about how your colleagues had all but written you off! I hear stories like that all the time.

Humans!Are you well now?Janet
