Guest guest
I was hoping for a suggestion for a good shower filter. I live in San Francisco and instead of using Chlorine in our tap water they started using Chloramine which I believe is Chlorine and Ammonia and is harder to filter out. From what I understand normal carbon shower filters don't work well in this case. I read that Vitamin C shower filters work better to neutralize the Chloramine and that's what I've been using lately. Then today I came accross this article that states that Vitamine C and Chlorine turn into Hydrochloric Acid: http://www.vitamincshowerfilters.com/?gclid=CK6M9ca355gCFRxNagoddTNZdA Would anyone recommend a shower filter that would be good for water that's treated with Chloramine? Guest guest
You get quite a few hits if you do a Google search for: "water shower filters for chloramine" Much more difficult is removing fluoride from your water. As far as I know that takes a whole system. Similarly, it is next to impossible to find a commercial toothpaste that does not contain fluoride. Fluoride is quite unhealthy and the whole bit about it preventing cavities turns out to be mostly hype that was used to turn an industrial waste product into a huge profit. oleander soup , "Katy" <katypomelov wrote:>> I was hoping for a suggestion for a good shower filter. Guest guest
Yes fluoride is a much greater issue, but I don't think there is a way to really filter it out of shower water unless I installed some sort of major fluoride filtration system at the main water pipe to the house. I distill my drinking water then reminiralize/alkalinize and restructure the water before drinking. It seems that all shower filters for chloramine are the ones that neutralize it with vitamin C. My question is mostly if anyone has heard of Vitamin C mixing with chloramin and turning into Hydrochloric Acid, and if that's something one should try to avoid. oleander soup , " Tony " wrote: > > > You get quite a few hits if you do a Google search for: > > " water shower filters for chloramine " > > Much more difficult is removing fluoride from your water. Guest guest
Hey guys, I've looked into the same issue, decided to take a bath disolving 2 grams of vitamin c in it. Its kind of hard when taking shower because of constant water output..NikoSent from my BlackBerry® smartphone "Katy" Thu, 19 Feb 2009 18:57:57 -0000<oleander soup > Re: shower filer question Yes fluoride is a much greater issue, but I don't think there is a way to really filter it out of shower water unless I installed some sort of major fluoride filtration system at the main water pipe to the house.
