Guest guest
I posted online to see if there is anyone that has some Oleander plants I could have some leaves/branches from and someone just called me back. He doesn't live incredibly close to me but has 30-40 feet of Oleander. He said I could have as much as I want. Do you know if its possible to preserve some of the branches in some way so that I can make one batch of Oleander soup now and then more batches later? Guest guest
Well I thought of doing that too. It's just that it would probably take me most of the day to make a batch and I'll most likely get the Oleander towards the end of this weekend. Then I'll be out of town the following two weekends. So I'm just wondering if I can get enough to make 2 or 3 batches but only make one this weekend and save the rest for later. Does anyone know if I could wash the leaves and branches and then store them in the fridge or the freezer for 3 weeks or so? Would that decrease its medicinal properties? This will be my first attempt at make Oleander soup, I'm pretty excited. :-) oleander soup , " Norton, Steve " <stephen.norton wrote: > > Or can you make additional soup and store it in the freezer? > - Steve > > - > oleander soup <oleander soup > > oleander soup <oleander soup > > Thu Feb 05 15:41:14 2009 > can you freeze or preserve Oleander leaves/branches in some way once cut? > > I posted online to see if there is anyone that has some Oleander > plants I could have some leaves/branches from and someone just called > me back. Guest guest
Katy. As far as we all know, Tony's suggestion is to use fresh oleander leaves every time. 2 bottles of the soup will last you at least 6 months, so you be ok for long time. Hope this helps, and good luck. Guest guest
I do not know the definitive answer about freezing oleander leaves for later use or even freezing the finished "oleander soup". I suspect that you might be able to simply because the way Anvirzel is made is that it is freeze-dried and then reconsituted with pharmaceutical grade distilled water and the way the new experimental oleander drug is made is via an extraction process using super cold liquid carbon dioxide. Both of which indicate that oleander is not harmed by sub freezing temperatures. I just prefer fresh, and a single batch will last a long time. I do know that "oleander soup" will keep a very long time if properly preserved and kept in a dark place or regrigerator. I have some that is over a year old, though again I would prefer fresh. I would suggest that another solution might be to have the guy send you the leaves in more than one shipment so that you could have fresh ones for the next batches. Remember, filtering is a key - the more the better. And be careful not to overcook, using a slow boil and adding water as need be. Good luck! oleander soup , "Katy" <katypomelov wrote:>> Well I thought of doing that too.
