Guest guest
Nonie and Sandy,I just received Trapper's reply and I believe this answers both your questions. If not, let me know and I will go back to clarify. Here it is:hi luella. kind of sketchy on what the question is, but i think i detect a few points to cover. "Which Iodoral or Lugol's contains in the proper percentages. Why would you then add extra iodide? Seems it would throw your body off." iodine supplementation doesnt fit the usual models people have in mind when they think about what their body needs. most of the time there is a natural progression of not getting enough of "X" and then supplementing "X" and then getting enough "X" finally so that there is no longer a deficiency of "X" so now i am all better and eat right from now on. iodine is a gateway to a deeper understanding of nutrition and biochemistry. we have a constant exposure to lighter halogens which displace iodine in the body and replace it and crowd it out altogether. this halogen imbalance can be light or severe or anything in between. there really is no telling how much iodine a person should take until they begin and find that level for themselves. i dont put any instructions on my bottles of SSKI. i wouldnt know what to say. a person might need one drop a day or might need half the bottle in one night. those are two extremes but still quite possible. as for the two types of iodine - elemental(I2) or the salt(iodide as in KI) - that is a matter of less debate. it is agreed by most that both kinds af iodine are recognized and utilized by the body. the amount of I2 a person needs depends on whether there is cancer or not and other concerns such as FBD, ovarian cysts, etc. the body does have the ability to balance between these two kinds. that is why i say take elemental as needed and use the cheaper KI for the bulk of your supplementation. as for balance of the iodoral and lugols, i think there is way too much I2 in that supplement, unless thats specifically what youre after.
