Can one make Oleander soup without a specific gravity measuring thing-a-ma-jig?

I used to use those when I made my own beer. But I don't have one

anymore and it's a bit of a drive to get one. I really need to make

some soup but keep delaying thinking I need the hydrometer.

 

Oh wait -- are the kind used by salt water aquarium people accurate

enough? Or do you need the kind that bobs up and down in the liquid?

You really do not need a hydrometer to make the soup. Just follow the recipe.
