Dear Lori,

Welcome to the wonderful world of research. LOL ;-)

The Total Nutrition Nutritional Yeast is 100% completely SAFE!!!!

The glutamic acid in the yeast is: L-Glutamic Acid and is a great amino acid and is NATURAL!!!!

The glutamic acid in MSG is: D-Glutamic Acid and is a man made abombination. It is not natural.

Our normal digestive process slowly breaks down this natural or "bound" glutamic acid and it is then delivered to glutamate receptors in our body and brain. Broken down this way, it is harmless. In a factory, however, the bound glutamic acid in certain foods (corn, molasses, wheat) is broken down or made "free" by various processes (hydrolyzed, autolyzed, modified or fermented with strong chemicals, bacteria, or enzymes) and refined to a white crystal that resembles sugar. This substance is known as monosodium glutamate or MSG. It is 78.2% glutamate, 12.2% sodium, and 9.6% water. It is odorless and has no distinct flavor, although some describe a salty/sweet flavor. Its chemical formulation has been modified and it is technically known as D-glutamic acid. It also contains some L-glutamic acid, pyroglutamic acid, and other contaminants This factory made version causes sensitive individuals more serious reactions than any other form of glutamic acid. Keep in mind that there is no D-glutamic acid, pyroglutamic acid, or other contaminants in the protein found in plants and animals, only L-glutamic acid

This of course get's us into "sources" and which ones to trust. Soooooooo, you're question is a good one. Most health food stores have been infiltrated by Big Pharma and don't even know it. Then there is the processes used to create the final product.

Microwave ovens are also very destructive in that you are changing the molecular structure of the food you're cooking, soooooo, you have a baked potatoe that looks like a baked potatoe, tastes like a baked potatoe, and smell like a baked potatoe, and yet there have been some slight molecular changes to the point where your body doesn't quite recognize it as food anymore. This throws a body into total confusion. Some times a singular difference in a molecule or an atomic element makes the difference between a food and a poison. MSG is one such example.

Interesting! Huh? ;-)

In health and love,

Herbal Remedies - Nutritional Yeast

Dear Doc, This one is for you ;)I have been doing some intense research lately on the the widespread infiltration of MSG into the organic sector. Of course, the findings are shocking! The one that worries me the most, however, concerns the consumption of Nutritional yeast. Since this is part of the Total Nutrition formula, I would like your opinion on its safety. I found out that the glutamic acid in the yeast is the same as MSG. This I learned from Ted Phelps of Daystar Botanicals (as a side note: I have no affiliation with his company, nor have I ever purchased any of his products, I am strictly referencing the research he did on the manufacturing of nutritional yeast) and also from Jack Samuels, the founder of Truth in Labeling. There are also several other links to this information. I would sincerely appreciate your guidance on this matter! Warm regards, Lori

Dear Doc,

Thank you very much for your time and response. You truly are a gem

amonst the rocks! I also loved your analogy with the microwave. After

reading the info on this site concerning microwaves we got rid of ours

several months ago ;) I highly recommend to anyone who hasn't read the

info concerning microwave use to do so post-haste! Warm regards, Lori

You're most welcome Hon.

Many many years ago when we got rid of our microwave, it was finally decided to take it to the dump.

I just didn't feel right selling it in a yard sale. LOL

Someone posted the info about this stuff, so I bought 4 lbs for $65.

I have experienced improvement in the past using brewers yeast; also

noticed a change for the better in my kids;(many moons ago) you know

how sometimes they get whiny and foul moods; this stuff made a big dif.

Kids show that they feel good by being happy and contented; my favorite

version, heh.

My own exper. was more stamina and a sense of well being.

So anyway, this stuff is said to be even better, generates natural

killer cells, taste like a bland cereal; you only need a spoonful a

day- they say. I am gonna do 3 a day; see what happens. They do talk a

good game, but not too much hyperbole.

Interesting. It is cheaper on eBay where the sellers buy the 50 lb bag and repackage it. That is if they don't substitute something else.

Have you had a chance to try it yet?
