Making OS

I'm on my third day of making this batch of OS. It IS going to be easier next time! For one thing, at a trip to my local beer and wine-making store I got a hydrometer. I had to go back for instructions yesterday, and bought a small cylinder to place the OS plus hydrometer. Total, less than $11, plus a glass of wonderful stout one day and ale the next. Delish! I'd much rather be making dark ale than OS,

By the way, my hydrometer has several scales; make sure your instructions are very clear and specific. You can buy them online if there's no store near you, but it just won't smell and taste a great as a visit!

Something that would probably help many of us, would be measurements! The instructions for SAFETY are extremely specific, but the instructions for liquids and solids are very vague. I am guessing that some of us are winding up drinking double the amount of OS than others.

My dream: For two gallons, or ____ liters, start with ___ lbs, or ____kilos of oleander leaves and stems. It is initially concentrated sufficiently when the volume is____________,or the specific gravity is__________. Then you add an equal amount of vodka or vinegar and drink__________.

To concentrate even further, boil down to_______ oz, Add vodka or vinegar, and drink_________ daily. It would take a lot more guesswork out of things. For next time! Any measurement lovers out there?Rhoda
