Guest guest
What is everone's opinion about the safety of giving my 2 1/2 year old son (who is diagnosed with stage 4 rhabdomyosarcoma) sutherlandia OPC. I am looking to give him a supplement to his chemo and radiation treatments that will hopefully lessen the side effects and improve treatment. I am a little concerned about the toxicity of oleander and the fact it contains cardiac glycosides. Any recomendations?
Guest guest
I can certainly understand your concern. Besides being a highly toxic plant in raw form, oleander does indeed have cardiac glycosides. HOWEVER, the process of making it in either home remedy or commercial form eliminates most of the toxins and is such that the amount of cardiac glycosides in a typical adult dose are only about 1/40th of the typical dose of digitalis/digoxin. To my knowledge, oleander has been used against modern cancers for over 40 years now and there has not been one single person die as a result of properly made and administered oleander. In that respect it is probably safer than most aspirins, NSAIDS and even common antibiotics - but of course you have to exercise caution, and if it were me I would surely adjust the dosage according to body weight (figuring that 150 pounds would be an average adult size). In the end, I should point out that I am not a qualified medical expert and so anything I post must be considered my personal opinion as opposed to specific diagnoses or treatment - and the decision on oleander or any other item is a personal choice. Oleander, especially in the patented medicine from (Anvirzel) has been used successfully with children, especially childhood brain tumors, but I do not know the stats or the age ranges. Personally I can tell you this: First of all, I would not opt for chemo or radiation to begin with, but I understand why people do opt for them and so if chemo and radiation were involved I would definitely use oleander in one form or another since it both protects against side effects and potentiates the treatments. Doctors who are familiar with oleander (and there are far too few) often opt for lesser amounts of chemo and radiation because the oleander does usually increase the effectiveness. Unless your oncologist is enlightened about oleander it is doubtful that he or she will support using it though. Since rhabdomyosarcoma is a soft tissue cancer, I would also highly consider Inositol/IP6, colloidal silver and colloidal gold along with the oleander. Essaic tea is another item that helps lessen chemo and radiation side effects and it has some cancer fighting abilities as well, though not nearly as strong as oleander. oleander soup , "matt.giesbrecht" <matt.giesbrecht wrote:>> What is everone's opinion about the safety of giving my 2 1/2 year old > son (who is diagnosed with stage 4 rhabdomyosarcoma) sutherlandia OPC. > I am looking to give him a supplement to his chemo and radiation > treatments that will hopefully lessen the side effects and improve > treatment.
