Guest guest
(please direct private emails to my alternate address; DogDayAfternoon Hi, My dog was diagnosed via MRI & Spinal tap as having Immune Mediated Meningoencephilitis. She started having seizures July 15th. She is a natural dog, no vaccines, no medications, no weird dog food. She mostly eats nutritionally complete grain-free raw chicken patties and the occassional (but not since she's been sick) Innova Evo grain free kibble. Since being on the immune suppressants (because they decrease inflamation) she doesn't have seizures. What i am concerned about is that something else is causing the inflamation. I do not like the idea of her being on immune suppressants. She is on both Prednisone & cyclosporine because she had a relapse about a month after I took her off of them so the neurologist wants to " hit it hard " . I am looking for some guidance, some wisdom, some help. I have exhausted much of my savings, yet do not feel they have diagnosed this properly. I live in Santa Monica , CA and she has seen two vets here, one neurologist and one holistic. We drove to Colorado where she had her relapse last week and she saw three different vets there, one of which was a neurologist. The alternative vet suspects helicobacter because it is a bacteria he has done extensive research on and has found it in the diseased tissue of both humans and animals in locations outside of the digestive system. He says Tela is positive for it, but hasn't told me how he diagnosed or tested for it; the neurologist the alternative vet referred me to said the alternative vet says many things are a result of the helicobacter and she doesn't take him seriously in regards to it. She is an old school alopathic neurologist very set in her way. If she had it her way, tela would be on Chemotherapy right now... Anyway, I need some help. My dog is stabalized now but on high dose of 20 mg prednisone 2 times a day and 100mg cyclosporine 2 times a day. I want to know if plant sterols can be effective enough. I want to know if there are extensive blood tests that can find protozoa or bacteria that they did not search for. I would hate to have to make her go through another spinal tap. Back in July i started her on Transfer Factor. Is this helpful. How can I be sure this is truly an autoimmune disease? I would love to know of a progressive vet that truly knows his stuff in this area. I went to a vet in Santa Monica that could have almost killed her because he said she didn't need to be on anything because he did NAET on her. 3 days after she had a seizure. your wisdom, suggestions and support is greatly appreciate and needed, Brigitte, Tela & Moon
