Ring at back of neck

This is so peculiar. My son has a red, raised line at the back of his

neck where his head bends.Along the sides it trails off on the same

line with what looks like bruises. This ring does not go clear around

his neck.. It almost looks like a rope burn but very thin. He woke up

with it this afternoon( he works nights stocking at Walmart). He hasn't

done anything to have acquired this. Has anyone ever encountered this?
