Guest guest
GOOD NEWS! Just received this from Dr. Connett !! Jean W. - Paul Connett fan_bulletins Saturday, July 28, 2007 3:09 PM [FAN Bulletins] 852: The Magnificent 500, part 1: An analysis FLUORIDE ACTION NETWORKhttp://www.FluorideAction.netFAN Bulletin 852: The Magnificent 500, part 1: An analysisJuly 28, 2007Dear All, In the next bulletin I will be printing out the list of all 500 professionals who signed the statement calling for an end to water fluoridation worldwide. In this bulletin I would like to analyze the list. But, first a huge THANK YOU to all those who helped make this magnificent achievement possible. Think of it: 500 signers (from 43 states and 35 countries) in just 30 days!Thank you to all who signed.Thank you to all those who got someone else to sign.Thank you to all those who circulated this appeal to your email lists.Thank you to the team that spent a huge amount of time working on this, particularly Naomi Flack (FAN), Eleanor Krinsky (NYSCOF), Carol Kopf (NYSCOF), David Kennedy (IAOMT, FAN), John Wilson (AAEM), Maureen Jones (CA), Jason Krueger (MN), Nilles Parent, Pierre Larose (Quebec), Ailsa Boyden (Australia), John Graham (UK), Liz Vaughn (UK), Robert Pocock (Ireland), Ellen Connett (FAN), Shirley Jacobson (WA), Bill Osmunson (OR, WA), Brent Foster et al. (OR), Carol Patton (FL), Albert Burgstahler (KS), Gene Burke (CA), Joyce Baunach (IL), Crystal Harvey (AR), John Zimmerman (NV), Steve Breyman (NY) and Virginia Brown (FL).As I said in the analysis of the first 400 names. It will be easy for the ADA and other promoters to come up with a list many times this size from their membership. However, they will not be able to match the staggering total of human-years of research on this issue by those on our list. Nor will they be able to produce a satisfactory scientific response to the issues raised in the Professionals' Statement. Looking back, historians may well pull out this document as spelling the beginning of the end of this sorry practice. In reality, in my view, it was the NRC (2006) report that provided the death knell for this practice. Our effort has been, and will continue to be, to make sure that medical and dental professionals, the media and the politicians know that this damning evidence exists. We will continue to collect professionals' names on this statement, but in a few days we will switch the focus to the PEOPLE, particularly those who resent having this poison forced upon them and their children, without their informed consent. On August 1, the statement and the list of signers will be posted on our web site, and concurrently people will be invited to add their names to an ONLINE ACTION support petition. When Americans sign, this petition (linked to the Professionals' statement) will be automatically sent to their two US Senators and their US Representative. Each message will ask for a Congressional hearing so that those who promote fluoridation in the CDC be forced to testify as to why they continue to do so, despite the damning scientific evidence that a) it doesn't work as claimed and b) it poses unacceptable health risks. This ONLINE ACTION support petition will thus provide a steady back drop of reminders to our Representatives that there is a growing number of people concerned about this issue. This backdrop will be in addition to all the others steps that we, and others, are doing to bring fluoridation to an end. Meanwhile, the Professionals' Statement with the very impressive list of signers, plus the separate collection of short personal statements from many of the signers, will be available in printable pdf files from our web page and thus provide powerful ammunition for citizens who are constantly being told that the only ones opposed to fluoridation are the ill-informed "vocal minority" who practice "junk science."Paul ConnettAn analysis of the 500 professionals who have signed the statement calling for an end to water fluoridation worldwide.Academics: 93 PhDs or equivalent (including 5 PhD/MD, 3 PhD/DDS, 1 PhD/BDS, 2 PhD/ND, 1 PhD/RN)Dental professionals: 117 (86 DDS, 16 DMD, 9 BDS, 6 RDH)Medical professionals: 139 (86 MD or equiv, 18 ND, 8 DO, 8 DC, 1 OMD, 15 RN, 1 RPh, 1 RD, 1 CCN) Legal professionals: 10 (7 JD)Water department personnel: 7Many Officers in environmental/health organizations Countries represented (35): Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Rep., England, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Philippines, Scotland, South Africa, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Wales and the US.US states (43): AK, AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, HI, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MA, MI, MN, MO, MS, MT, NB, NC, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WA, WI (and DC, Puerto Rico and Akwesasne, the Mohawk Nation).Signers include:Pete Seeger, Legendary folksinger, songwriter and activist for peace, justice and the environment3 members of the National Research Council panel (NRC, 2006): Dr. Bob Isaacson, Dr. Hardy Limeback and Dr. Kathleen Thiessen.2 members of the advisory panel for the York Review: Dr. Peter Mansfield and Dr. Sheila Gibson.A former Federal Health Minister for Australia: Doug N.
