Yep, its the wrong way health management. The patient is lost too suddenly. Have to draw out the suffering so that the maximum amount of drugs might be used.

COLDWATER, Mich. (AP) - The man known as the suicide doctor, Jack Kevorkian, has left prison after eight years -- still believing people have a right to die.

Kevorkian claims to have participated in at least 130 assisted suicides, and routinely challenged authorities to make his actions legal throughout the 1990s.

Today, a smiling Kevorkian walked out of prison to a white van that was waiting for him.

He is expected to now move to an area just outside Detroit, where he will live with friends and resume the artistic and musical hobbies he missed while in prison.

Kevorkian will be on parole for two years, and 1 of the conditions he must meet is that he can't help anyone else die. He says he'll abide by that.

A woman I met recently told me yesterday about a fiend who was dying and - as usual - taken off all their meds and put on Morphine for the pain to die in peace and lived another 5 years - WHY I asked her was he on so many medications in the first place? I dunno she said - but it reminded me of the Locum GP who came to check out a dying patient and (as always happens when you can't swallow any more drugs) all meds were ceased - "he'll probably get better now" was again the comment.

And other times the patient is taken off all medications to die and recovers enough to start swallowing again - goes back on the meds and this time does a proper job - really dies

However I get the impression that in many cases it is the patient who demands the medications from the GP and if they are not forthcoming will go to whoever will prescribe the tablets - possibly it is the latest keeping up with the Jones's - who takes the most tablets?? Who is the sickest? Has the most symptoms, the most procedures, the best x-rays? How else can you justify your existence???

There are definitely sick, not wholistic, approaches the whole way around.

I was recently a guest for a Lion's Club dinner and polo match. People at the table are mostly old. I was probably youngest guy there. THE topic of conversation among old people is medicine.

I talked about various subjects (wasn't a speaker, just casual conversation) in terms of herbs and what things I've used them for, including herbs that help to bring about healing of "arthritis", avoiding joint replacement, etc. And while all listen they immediately go back to the friggin doctor talk and puchasing of medicines to help--with pain. The pain gets helped, short term, they have the attitude they're healed. I told them I had taken some "stuff" and can now run. Not pain medication, nutrients to promote healing and reproduction of tissue.

This thing about who takes more medicine. Get old and join a new race. How many drugs can I take and still stand up? Gees, I got off on that idea when I was a kid and doing all the partying I used to do. But not now!

Doctors and patients are guilty here. Another issue is people get all this insurance so that they don't have to pay for the things that go wrong with them that they brought on themselves when all they had to do was a little investigation into good eating habits. People smoke, people abuse food; people watch tv all night; people don't want to work or only work so they may party later; etc.etc. Half a population weighing in at 300 pounds, and they all have insurance. Things will go wrong, somebody else will pay, they get a temporary fix, come out and continue the same old process.

People want to escape their lives, I think.

This sounds similar to my own mother who died several years ago now. However when she first took ill and was in hospital there was a family gathering of everyone and my husband and I could tell with just one look at my mother that her will to live had gone....that sparkle in her eyes, that fighting spirit that had seen her fight against other battles had all gone.

BUT my niece who is also a Nurse insisted, against my better judgment (and I was the executor), that my mother WOULD survive and they should continue at all costs to keep her alive!

So against my wishes the rest of the family agreed and for a further 6 weeks my mother suffered needlessly as drug after drug was pumped into her all but lifeless body. After one visit to my mother her treating Dr confided in me that it was pitiful to continue as she would NOT survive but my hands were tied.

Not long after that visit though my brother rang me and asked me to come to the hospital which we did immediately and he admitted to me it had been a mistake and asked us to tell the Dr's to stop all medications and let nature take its course.......

Well I lived 2 hours drive away from the hospital and we'd only just walked in the door when the phone rang.........it was my brother telling me mum had just died in his arms.

I firmly believe my mother suffered needlessly for 6 agonising weeks because of drugs. I personally NEVER want to be in that position myself and my family knows it.

Yes people do want to escape their lives - but in reality they are the living dead - are they not! I love to hear about anything new and good results for ailments - we all get symptoms sometimes - and i do try a heap of things - just to see what they do ( I mean Alt remedies ) observing people I feel that most are zombies, and they get very offended and frightened if you suggest something healthy and helpful don't they!!

My gardener was today given a mosquitoclick - from a previous client when he was attacked by a swarm of wasps - I shall probably get one - the company that makes it make a few interesting things - worth googling - I gave him homeopathic Ledum previously which he also took - as I have many fire ants here and Ledum is excellent for bites and stings
