What makes a green tea? Would a lemon balm and/or ginger mint whipped

up in a blender be considered a green tea? This makes a

wonderful " tea " in my book, either hot or cold. I was just wondering

if it would be called a " green tea " ?

Green tea is untreated " black tea " - i.e. the same bush just not treated the

same way

Green tea as opposed to black tea. We in the west are accustomed to black tea, which is tea leaves that have been processed. Before processing, they are gree. Here in China, a major source of tea, no-one drinks black tea. They use the natural green leaves from the tea tree or bush to make tea.Seehttp://chinesefood.about.com/library/weekly/aa021103a.htmDavidJane <jmbennett wrote: What makes a green tea? Green tea ..yes it is from the same bush probably besides the processing there is another difference....When I visited a tea plantation in Sri Lanka I was told, only tender shoots are used to make green tea...also green tea supposedly contains more anti-oxidants than black teaBlack tea is from slightly older leaves,Begum Re: Question on what makes a green tea Posted by: "Jane MacRoss" highfield1 janemacross Tue May 29, 2007 2:09 am (PST) Green tea is untreated "black tea" - i.e. the same bush just not treated the same way JaneM
