Guest guest
I just bought 10 jars of Stevia 30g each - they will last me forever!! You need so little - like only perhaps 1/2 teaspoon or less for cakes - 20g lasted me about 3 months - this is the white powder I mean ... someone on another list was buying a pound of Stevia for $90 in the US - thats cheaper than I can buy it in Oz Jane - Bea Bernhausen Monday, May 21, 2007 5:00 AM Re: FOX busts Nutrasweet!!--video dam expensive tooSHARON JAGGER <sharonjagger wrote: I buy it too in small packets, but I cant find it in large quantities for baking and have only seen it very rarely in manufactured products. Guest guest
I believe stevia can only be promoted as a dietary supplement and not as a sweetener. The companies that make NutraSweet wanted it banned and it only became allowed into this country because of DESHA. In 1994 the FDA actually order the Stevita company of Texas to burn their cookbooks and informational books that they sold.and only after the company called in the press did the FDA relent. I purchase pure stevia in the powdered form (no added maltodextrin or other fillers) at the health food store - the stevia I use has the brand name NOW on it. I sometimes use it to bake with in combination with other sweeteners. You can not use just stevia because it is lacking in bulk, I also purchase it in a pure liquid extract from Trivita, a supplement company www.trivita.com/11563866 Additonallly I have found an energy drink that is only 24 calories. It is sweetened with stevia, and a small amount of fructose and maltodextran. It comes in cans - it is slightly carbonated and with natural cherry. It is also available in to go packets that you add to water. . Right now it is available over the Internet and everyone can sign up for free and buy wholesale. Also it is being put in retail locations by independent reps.
