Guest guest
Very interesting! Verroa mites carry diseases to hives, especially when they come into contact with other commercial apiaries in pollination of agriculture. This spreads the viruses further. Essential oils slows the spread of diseases within a limited area. Good nutrition rather than medication is often what is needed. UC Davis did research into this area, and confirms exactly what I have said for years, and that is that the natural bee forages need to be improved in agricultural areas. Also, wintergreen and or mints discourage ants in apiaries, which is one of the honeybees worst enemies. Also, essential oils may actually strengthen the immune systems of honeybees, and deter pathogens. Good quality pollen sources and minerals need to be available to bees throughout the entire year or they may or will have health problems. Very much like human beings would do.
