Guest guest
There are many diet solutions to lower cholesterol but I think the first question we need to ask is does high cholesterol put people at risk. We have been convinced by the medical industry that this is true but what do the facts say? First of all about 50% of the people that have heart disease do not have high cholesterol. Secondly while statin drugs have been proven to lower cholesterol they have not been shown to increase lifespan in people. Thirdly older people with higher cholesterol levels tend to live longer than people with lowered levels. Lower cholesterol levels are also associated with depression. There is a Swedish MD that has written an excellent book about the problems with the cholesterol theory called cholesterol myths. You can check it out on his website http://www.ravnskov.nu/cholesterol.htm. He also has a link on his site to a group of scientists and doctors that are skeptical about the cholesterol theories. If you are interested in lowering cholesterol through diet - I suggest you check out the Dash diet. It is a pretty basic Americanized diet that has been shown to lower blood pressure and cholesterol as well as drugs. I believe this diet study originally came out of Harvard or Tufts University. For me this diet speaks volumes on the value of adding fruits and vegetables and keeping unhealthy trans fats out of the diet as a means to stay healthy. .http://www.dashforhealth.com . On a more targeted note. There are doctors who have have both lowered cholesterol and helped reverse heart disease with a vegetarian diet and lifestyle changes. Three of these doctors are Dr Caldwell B. Esselstyn, Jr http://www.heartattackproof.com/, Dr. McDougall http://www.drmcdougall.com/ and Dr Dean Ornish http://www.webmd.com/content/pages/9/3068_9408.htm In memory of my mother,(a 7 year statin drug user who just recently died from pancreatic cancer) I will be posting to a new blog about heart disease and drug myths. I have collected much information on this subject and more is always coming out. The main purpose of this blog will be to have a central place where studies and information about heart disease and medical myths can be shared. It is my posit on that pharmaceutical drugs never get to the root cause of disease they only treat numbers and symptoms and cause further problems. We now know that Vioxx killed over 100,000 people - I believe that statin drugs are also killing people. Feel free to check my blog and comment on posts. I hope to have a bunch of information on it by Monday and then keep it updated with new information.. http://hearthealthandmyths.blogspot.com/ http://organicandhealthy.blogspot.com/ www.blissfullyorganic.com Helping to heal the planet one person at a time Ahhh...imagining that irresistible "new car" smell? This is well documentated but too many physicians prescribe statins without this warning. The treatment is to take CoQ10 supplements. Cholesterol control may be helped by chitin. Also Policosonal. Also Niacin. But the real problem is said to be the oxidation of LDL, not the level of cholesterol itself. This would lead one, then, to focus on inproving the HDL/LDL ratio and on supplementation with a variety of antioxidants.
Guest guest
I liked the information you have circulated on cholesterol drugs. I would like you to visit music therapy section of my website. You will find there some of my FREE tracks developed for cancer patients. If you like my work share it with others and consider purchasing or giving a donation.
