When the levels of these hormones plummet , it gives rise to a host of undesirable effects including Irregularity of periods Hot flashes Night sweats Mood swings Osteoporosis Since menopause is a natural transition in the life of a woman and involves physiological and, psychological changes, Ayurveda suggests that it be managed holistically to minimize discomfort. Lifestyle changes one can follow… The morning abhyanga or whole body oil massage for preventing menopausal problems. Daily exercise ‘to improve well being, fight stress and induce relaxation. Regular pelvic and breast exams, Pap tests, and mammograms Healthy food habits, such as eating the main meal at noon without missing it, when the digestion is the strongest. One should try to eat at the same time every day. Abstinence from smoking Meditation and yoga for exercise and relaxation along with healthy sleeping habits to keep up homoeostasis in the body. To sleep more deeply at night, one should hit the bed early by around 10:00 p.m. and not arise before 6:00 a.m. Take part in weight-bearing exercise, such as walking, jogging, running, or dancing, at least 3 days each week Consumption of diet and herbs, which are rich in calcium and phytoestrogens and avoid salty and sour food, favouring sweet, bitter and astringent food Diet should include whole grains fresh fruits and vegetables while meat, cheese, frozen desserts, packaged and canned food to be avoided.
