It depends on your genes. Some people do OK as vegan, but many have tried and do not do well, no matter how they balance the diet. Campbell exercises caution when generalizing from casein to plant proteins, but freely generalizes from casein to animal protein. He entirely ignores the role of wheat gluten, a plant product, in autoimmune diseases, so he can emphasize the role of milk protein, an animal product. The book, while not entirely without value, is not about the China Study, nor is it a comprehensive look at the current state of health research. It would be more aptly titled, A Comprehensive Case for the Vegan Diet, and the reader should be cautioned that the evidence is selected, presented, and interpreted with the goal of making that case in mind. Guest guest Posted March 26, 2007 Report Share Posted March 26, 2007 You believe people do best on such diet but Dr. Campbell, thru a 20 year scientific study, proved if we consume animal protein our chances of getting cancer and heart disease greatly increases~ And there will always be someone pointing out problems when it comes to living a life that stops the meat, dairy and poultry industry from making their big bucks~ Go pick up his book and read chapter 5 and see what i mean~ Anyway, this is about "choice", for all Americans know that eating at fast food restaurants is dangerous to ones health and that the consumption of animals in todays toxic world cant be safe, yet millions do it daily~ As an evolving human being, I also CHOOSE plant so that i dont go into a mental shut down while consuming my meal (Psychological numbing), something anyone that is sane MUST go into when consuming an animal that died in the most horrible manner possible in its youth before it made it to our mouths~ It's like having sex with a 7 year old and thinking it was ok because she or he would eventually do it~ So its more than just eating plants because we don't want diseases, its also a moral reason to consume our meals this way~ and by the way, since i became Vegan, i am learning to cook the most delicious meals ever and i eat them with my soul and heart wide open, something i never could do when i consumed flesh~ Hempress ---- Karen Eck 03/25/07 21:16:00 Re: China Study/New Girl Scout Cookies Still Have Trans Fats I'm an omnivore and believe most people do best on a diet that includes clean nutrient-dense foods such as raw milk, pastured-eggs, and wild and pastured meat.
