Guest guest
Rose First thing, whether the wound looks good or bad you could be at risk for tetanus so while it sounds like its gotten infected, don't take that as any indication that you are in trouble or not... though, my understanding (and it may be different with animals) is that tetanus usually shows up within a few days. You may want to check on the incubation but I wouldn't get the shot. Odds are if you EVER had a tetanus shot and it provided immunity that you still have that protection. Second, while I am sure this isn't exactly going to sound like fun, tetanus isn't that serious of a disease. It is inconvenient for sure.. probably uncomfortable, embarrassing, compromising and I am not suggesting that you should WANT to get it... but if it were to pass that you did, its not life-threatening. At least not in any scenario I've heard of. Do they not make a tetanus anti-toxoid for people? Again that is not the herbal approach but I know that the standard allopathic approach to tetanus exposure for animals is a shot of anti-toxoid rather than a vaccination if only because its too late for the vaccine at that point anyway. It takes time for a vaccine to work.. time that will be inadequate if the tetanus is in your system. Sounds more like you should be focusing on what you need to do to clear up the infection to me. Finally there are no doubt greater minds on this list than I... so I wouldn't use my information as much of anything except to maybe get you to ask more questions and do more searching on the web for information. Guest guest
Rose I am sooo sorry that all happened to you, it sounds like a horrible experience. I would definately say something to someone that the nurse wasn't wearing gloves.. You know in your mind who you should talk to about that. I am scared of shots too and they should have been able to retrieve your records by now. Monday is tomorrow so you only have one day to go. Let us know what happens. Guest guest
First, next time you have gushing blood- cayenne pepper internally (you can also put it on the wound but it will hurt bad). Second, I would use some lavendar oil on the cut and then put some comfrey salve on it. Keep it clean and dry. I would not do the tetanus shot personally. Tetanus is a bacteria that can only survive in an anaerobic environment.
