Guest guest
Hi all....I have a good friend, female/40's, who recently -- out of the blue -- had an acute attack, was rushed to the hospital and spent five days in ICU, lost a lot of blood, and was diagnosed with advanced liver disease. The doctors have her on all sorts of meds, which are not helping her condition. She has bad edema right now, is very swollen in the midsection area, and is pretty sick. I'm pretty sure she won't/can't stop taking the allopathic meds at this point, but what can she do in concert with them to begin to heal herself? I don't think she's healthy enough for any kind of a rigorous cleanse, but there must be something gentle that she can begin to do to heal. Herbs? Diet? Fast? Although fasting may be too much for her right now. I'm truly worried that she's going to die if she continues on this allopathic path and would like to give her some alternatives. Not to mention that the cost is out of this world and she has no insurance. Thanks for any feedback, and please let me know if I have your permission to forward the information on to her in your post. Sharyn --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Guest guest
--hello, sounds pretty much like what happened to me. i am currently taking milk thistle, 3 caps. 3 times a day, i am also trying to eat beets as much as possible, both of these help to regenerate the liver. also i try to drink green tea with juniper berries or just straight juniper berry tea as much as possible, this will help pull the excess fluid off of her . cranberry juice will flush the fluid off as well. i did my first " bomb " monday of this week. you can find the recipe in the files section of the group. i also have a shaman friend who comes over and does deep tissue massage and healing hands for me. the main thing is not to let this get you down, the doctors told me that i would need a transplant within 1 year or i was going to die, that was 2 years ago, i had an ultrasound done about 3 weeks ago, and the doctor was shocked, he told me that my liver was back almost to normal size, and all the scarring on the surface was gone. my bloodwork is almost back to normal, and i am feeling much better now. if i can be of any help just let me know jeff- In herbal remedies , " Sharyn Cerniglia " <sharyn.cerniglia@v...> wrote: > Hi all....I have a good friend, female/40's, who recently -- out of the blue > -- had an acute attack, was rushed to the hospital and spent five days in > ICU, lost a lot of blood, and was diagnosed with advanced liver disease. > The doctors have her on all sorts of meds, which are not helping her > condition. Guest guest
Hi Jeff I know that you are taking Milk Thistle, but what Mg's are they?. What does the bottle say what the caps are in Mg? The reason I ask, is that the actual Sylimarin content is not usually what the bottle says, its usually in the small print!!. The caps in our bottle says 175Mg, but the actual Sylimarin content is 140Mg. I am just trying to see what you are taking in Sylimarin content. We are in the U.K. and I know that there is a difference between our laws regarding what it actually says on the bottle. My wife has HEPC, Genotype 1, and is up for Pegintron/Ribavirin treatment and to perfectly honest I am scared shitless what the side effects may do to her ('scuse my language). I would really like to know what your regime was. Is it possible for you to send me the actual doses of all the herbs etc that you took to almost clear your HEPC. If you want, you can email me direct at suttjef. I really need help on this one. Kind regards Jeff Sutton Hatfield Hertfordshire England UK Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Guest guest
Hi Very new to the list, but immediately this thread caught my attention as 25 years ago I had Hepatitis A and it screwed up my liver and gall bladder really well. About 4 years ago, I heard about milk thistle and so I decided to try it in order to be able to digest certain foods that were causing some really bad bile back-ups. So, I went to this place in L.A. called The Herbal Products Company and just simply asked for powdered milk thistle. I also got " holy thistle " as well just to see if that worked. Well, I made my own capsules and didn't even ask about mg's or how much of something was in it because I was too naive to do so. It was just a powdered herb to me . In reading your e-mail, it never even dawned on me to be asking those questions. At any rate, I've been taking it like that for 4 years and its saved my ass many many times over - I can't begin to tell you. I take two capsules in the morning approximately 4 times a week and I've been fine in that area. Things work much better. So, I guess everyone is very different and some people can't take certain things in herbs in their basic form, but so far so good with the powdered milk thistle. And by the way doing it myself has saved me a ton of money as well. I do other herbs too. Has anyone here gotten the book called Herbally Yours by Penny C. Royal? There are some neat formulas in there for different things. I did the one for slow thyroid and it helped me quite a bit there too. Guest guest
Hi Lyn You are so lucky to be able to get Milk Thistle like that in the States (I guess because it grows there), here in the UK, we just cannot get it like you guys can. However, just a thought, The British Liver Foundation has recommended that Echinacea should not be taken whilst taking Milk Thistle as they work against each other. Kind regards Jeff Sutton - " Lyn Keller " <lynlite <herbal remedies > Tuesday, October 19, 2004 7:09 AM Re: Herbal Remedies - Re: Liver Disease > > > Hi > > Very new to the list, but immediately this thread caught my > attention as 25 years ago I had Hepatitis A and it screwed up my > liver and gall bladder really well. > > About 4 years ago, I heard about milk thistle and so I > decided to try it in order to be able to digest certain foods > that were causing some really bad bile back-ups. > > So, I went to this place in L.A. called The Herbal Products > Company and just simply asked for powdered milk thistle.
