What's the best pet remedy book for dogs and/or cats? I'm looking for one to give as presents for a couple of friends who have cats, and myself. I have a dog.

My holistic vet studied with Dr. Pitcairn for two years and recommends his book,

Dr. Pitcairn's Guide to Natural Health for Dogs & Cats by Richard Pitcairn.

It is a great book.

I learned allot from a book called Foods Pets Die For.

I haven't read this book yet, I just got it. Called The Complete Herbal Handbook for the Dog and Cat. By Juliette de Bairacli Levy. It's out of print so you'd have to hunt it up on used book sites. This book was recommended to me by several of my animal and herb loving friends. So far it looks like a great book for herbal information.

I like that book and also, because I have cats, I like The Veterinarians' Guide to Natural Remedies For Cats by Martin Zucker. Under each ailment he has the recommendations of a few different holistic vets and it's interesting to see the diverse assortment of natural remedies each has successfully used in his/her practice. Zucker may also have written one for dogs. I'm not sure. You can check by looking up books by Martin Zucker.

Called The Complete Herbal Handbook for the Dog and Cat. By Juliette de Bairacli Levy.

I once had a dog with eye cancer, and I wrote Juliette de Bairacli Levy a letter asking for her recommendations, as my dog's particular problem wasn't discussed in her books. She is certainly a nomad!! LOL! I got a response about a year later! It turned out that she was traveling in the mountains of Spain and the letter took forever to get to her! She wrote me a long hand-written letter back and I only wish I had saved it!! By that time I already had a pretty comprehensive herbal program for my dog underway, but, from what I remember, I added a couple of her herbal suggestions.

I have many, but my bible is Juliette de Bairacli Levy's THE COMPLETE HERBAL HANDBOOK FOR THE DOG AND CAT. If you are only going to buy one, that would be it. This woman cured *rabies* naturally....

LOL! GMTA! (I have to say when I bought it I read it **in one sitting** -- the book is highlighted and dog-eared to death.<G>)

She also has/had a book entitled NATURE'S CHILDREN which I bought in the late 70's and raised my now 24yo son by.

My dog had summer itch and nothing helped until I put her on Cod Liver OIl or Linseed Oil, now her coat is beautiful.
